I got two calls from an unknown number, and the second time I tried calling back, a bloke picked up, said hello, and then just hung up on me.

This has to be a scam or something, coz I've noticed other folks mentioning this number too. Honestly, I never pick up when it’s from unknown numbers. I just block it right away. Sometimes I even switch my phone to do not disturb so I don’t have to deal with random calls constantly.

Got a call yesterday from some recorded message saying "Thanks for calling Dot services, press 1 to talk, 2 to opt out". Sounded fishy since they called me first and then just dropped the call before I could pick up properly. Definitely feels like a scam to me so I've blocked the number now.

Received a call from this number earlier today. They used my first name, which felt a bit odd. The caller sounded rather inebriated and inquired if I was doing alright. I responded with a polite "I'm fine, thank you," to which he replied, "I'm good too, cheers for asking." Then he mentioned something about my life insurance, but I decided to hang up before he could continue. Quite the strange encounter!

Just got a ring from some bloke claiming to be from Tech Helpline in Coventry. He mentioned my computer had loads of errors and needed sorting. Got a call from some bloke called Mark, number 0800 0314014, saying he’s from Microsoft. He told me my computer needed an update. He said I was registered with Microsoft but couldn’t even say who he was asking for. When I asked him more questions, he suddenly said he was with Tech Help. Definitely a scam, Microsoft would never be calling me like that.

Got a call from this bloke Peter claiming he was from some tech support. Said my computer was riddled with 237 trojans and that I needed to buy software to stop hackers. Told me it was messing with my phones and tablets too since they all use the same Wi-Fi. Wanted me to fork out £119 for 5 years or £149 forever. I told him to jog on, then ran a proper scan myself. Took it to the tech guys at PC World and they said it’s all a load of rubbish and real support techs never call you outta the blue. Total scam, avoid at all costs! 😡😡😡

Received a call from a bloke with a strong Indian accent claiming to be Adam Roberts. He said I had a Trojan virus on my computer and said he was from some sort of "Tech Helpline." I ended the call straight away but he rang again, asking why I’d hung up. I tried asking him a couple of questions but kept things a bit dodgy as I wasn’t convinced. Eventually, I got his number, which matches the one on here. Told him off for shouting like that to try and scare me. What a muppet.

this guy with an indian accent rang me up, said his name was mark williams from some “tech support”. he claimed my windows needed updating or else he would cut off my internet. when i asked who i was, he told me i was jackie, which is totally wrong. then he started saying he was recording the call, so i told him i was too and would hand it over to the cops. he tried saying he was police registered! it all sounded dodgy to me, so i didn’t trust him one bit!

I had a chap call me out of the blue, insisting that I fire up my computer so he could “sort something out.” I decided to humour him and see just how far he’d push his little ruse. I acted as if I was powering it on, and he began to list off a few keys for me to press. At first, I told him everything was perfectly fine, which just sent him into a different route about needing to discuss my Microsoft licence. I told him to drop me a letter and, to my amusement, he claimed he’d already sent one but I hadn’t replied. I put him straight, saying that genuine Microsoft representatives don’t make unsolicited calls, and promptly hung up. What a charlatan!

I received a call from someone named Mark Williams, who had quite the Asian accent. It was the same old story as I've experienced before. I refused to engage, and he suggested I call him back at the same number. This morning, my phone rang once more... and it was him again, so I chose to just hang up. Received a ring from this number just now. The caller had quite a pronounced Asian accent and introduced himself as Mark Williams. He insisted I switch on my computer so he could check for issues. I informed him that I didn’t have access to my computer at the moment, which seemed to irritate him immensely, as he raised his voice significantly. I’ve just experienced a similar situation. After ringing back for the second time, I let him know that I had done a bit of online research and discovered they’re running a scam. His response was a panicked, “Oh no, madam!” I informed him that I’d contacted the authorities about them. I also advised him to quit his shady antics and find a proper job instead. It’s absolutely baffling how the government allows such foul play to continue. It’s infuriating, especially when all you want is to relax during your hard-earned time off!

I had this rather relentless chap from India on the phone earlier, and he kept asking me if I was near my computer. I thought I'd have a bit of fun, so I told him I’d boot it up and put him on speaker. I left him waiting for a good few minutes, then when he checked in to see if I was ready, I cheekily replied that I was actually busy on my Xbox! Quite amusing, really. Then I quizzed him for his name and number, and he claimed to be Julian Dyer. I couldn’t help but find it odd for an Indian gent to have such a name, so I mentioned it. He didn't take kindly to that and promptly hung up!

On 14th July 2018 at around 2:15pm, I got a call from someone named Andy Mason claiming to be from Microsoft tech support. He told me that some software had been downloaded on my PC to hack it. I asked for his address and phone number, which he said was 1844 Lakehall Drive, Liverpool. I decided to ring Microsoft’s official helpline to check. They told me that Microsoft never contacts people out of the blue offering tech support - it’s always the other way round. These lot are definitely scammers, and I intend to report them to the cops.

In a rather familiar fashion, this chap named Richard, despite his Indian accent, attempted to persuade me into granting him remote access to my computer. I calmly informed him that I intended to verify his claims with Apple. At that point, he became rather tenacious. I had a phone call earlier and it was the typical nonsense you hear - claimed to be from IT support, requesting I power up my computer. Naturally, I declined. They insisted there were hidden issues, to which I replied, if I can't see any issues, then it’s not my concern and I certainly don’t require their assistance. They even provided me with an 0800 number to ring, which I politely refused, explaining that it would be a complete waste of our time since there’s no visible problem at all. Clearly, it was a scam!

Got a call earlier today from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be from tech support. He told me that every time I use the internet, harmful software might be downloaded onto my computer. He wanted me to open up my computer so he could check for any dodgy programs causing trouble. He said the check-up was free, but I told him nothing comes free these days and asked what the catch was. He said if they found anything, there’d be a fee for removing it. I told him I wasn’t interested at all. Seems like a classic scam to me.

I received a rather relentless call from these chaps and they just wouldn’t take no for an answer. The moment I switched my computer on, they dazzled me with a barrage of technical jargon that was quite frightening. They initially quoted me £129 for some so-called repairs (but that magically dropped to £99 and then £79 because I’m a senior citizen!!!). They promised to ring back in ten minutes, so we decided to consult our local tech wizard. He was quite familiar with their tactics and advised us to tell them to shove off or even consider alerting the authorities. When they did ring back, they remained quite insistent and wouldn't restore my screen settings to normal. After my daughter unleashed a few choice words, they finally relented. In hindsight, I wish I had let that phone call go to voicemail, as it left my daughter in desperate need of a strong drink! Cheers! 🍷🍹🍸

My 84-year-old mother just received a phone call from these shady characters. Thankfully, she now checks with me before making any decisions. The caller introduced himself as Chas Osbourn and had a distinctly British accent.
It appears they might be using legitimate numbers from TalkTalk, as she only recently updated her phone number following a previous scam where someone posed as TalkTalk.
Is it possible that someone within TalkTalk’s Indian tech support network is peddling customer information, or perhaps running a side hustle? Or could it be that the data breach at TalkTalk last year has revealed more details than they’re willing to confess?

I received a rather unusual call today from a woman named Lauren Morrison claiming to be from a helpdesk - apparently, she was Indian? She started off with the usual spiel about some errors on my computer and urged me to switch it on. Quite relentless, really! I had my suspicions and hinted that it might be a scam, to which she promptly provided a phone number and insisted she was with BTec helpdesk. I had a similar exchange with the chap. When I quizzed him about the potential costs, he insistently replied that there was no charge, as it was a support line for Windows and the like. I ventured to jest and inquired if he was affiliated with some sort of charity, given there was no fee involved. He seemed to take umbrage at that comment, and sensing his irritation, I casually brought up some whispers I'd heard about scams, asking for a contact number to validate his claims. Honestly, do I really need to elaborate further?

I've been receiving numerous calls from the following numbers: +18273552975, +19442759338, +16532749579, and +19432757355. I suspect they are all linked to a tech support service. It’s becoming quite bothersome!

I strongly advise against using The Tech Helpline. They come across as aggressive and really pushy, and I can't shake the feeling that they might be running a scam. Seriously, steer clear of this lot at all costs!

I've been swamped with incessant calls on my mobile from these complete swindlers who somehow got hold of my number. I must admit, I fell for their tricks just like others have mentioned. Blocking them seems impossible at this point. Just received another nuisance call from the same lot, +18273552975 - definitely one to avoid!

Today, I received a rather peculiar call from a chap with a distinctly foreign accent who introduced himself as William Tell (of all names!). He claimed that I had downloaded something that was wreaking havoc on my computer. I mentioned I had antivirus software in place, to which he bluntly replied it wasn't a virus (well, if it isn’t, then what on earth is it?). He was surprisingly pushy and rather rude, insisting I jump on my computer immediately. I couldn't help but think that no reputable company would hire someone with such appalling customer service skills. I asked him for his contact number, and he provided me with one. After a quick search online, I stumbled upon this page. To my astonishment, he dared to ring back, and I wasted no time in telling him where he could go!

I received a rather curious phone call today (07/09/2015) from some organisation claiming to assist with computer issues. It was much like what others have described: an Asian chap provided me with the same toll-free number when I pressed him. Curious, I decided to return the call, and lo and behold, I was met by yet another Asian fella. The first sounded as if he were situated somewhere in India, whilst the second had a hint of a Filipino accent, but who can say for certain? The initial caller insisted they could remotely access my computer and ‘resolve any problems’. He mentioned that their main office is located in Los Angeles, with a ‘virtual presence’ here in London. When I probed him about how he obtained my telephone number, he abruptly cut off the line... But really, how did he get hold of my number in the first place?

I had a bloke ring me not too long ago, claiming he was in Acton, Greater London. He had a distinctly Asian accent but was spouting the same old lines that others have already flagged up. Quite the coincidence, isn’t it?

I received a call claiming there was an issue with my computer, but as soon as I started to question them, they abruptly hung up. Definitely seems dodgy to me!

I received a rather dubious phone call today from the number (020) 7207 8495, which turned out to be a scam operation posing as the PC Help Desk, originating from an Indian call centre. They were rather persistent in their questioning and when I requested a number to return their call, they provided me with 08000314014. Quite curious indeed!

A call came through from an Asian chap who claimed he was part of the IT team dealing with Windows software. He mentioned that users were facing issues with their computers' performance due to some glitch in the Windows software. When I pressed him about his employer, he implied he was affiliated with Microsoft. He instructed me to pop open my laptop, hit the Windows key alongside the R key, and then type in EVENTVWR. At that stage, I grew suspicious and asked for his name, which he said was Kevin Watson, along with a reference number. However, his accent was incredibly thick, making it hard to follow, so I had my doubts about the accuracy of that name. He also provided the number 08000314014. I politely told him I wasn't interested and hung up, then took to Google where I found this site confirming it's a scam! A huge thank you to everyone who shared their experiences here; it’s been really helpful!

I recently received a similar call informing me that my computer was at risk due to some harmful files. The caller instructed me to simultaneously press the Windows key and R. I wasn't having any of it, so I let him know exactly what I thought. He introduced himself as Alex Brown and sounded like he might be of Asian descent.

I experienced something quite similar today. A woman named Rachel Williams rang me, claiming she was from Waitrose and discussing an issue with my computer. It was the same old routine as mentioned before. After I hung up on her, I was bombarded with four calls from 02088586058. An Asian gentleman insisted that I had been conversing with one of his associates and proclaimed my computer was in grave peril. I hung up on him too, but he persisted in calling back.

Over the past week, I've received five phone calls from this number, all claiming there was an issue with my computer. Curious, I asked which one they were referring to, considering I have five computers in my home. The caller was incredibly insistent about wanting me to log in and access my device. In the end, I firmly told him to leave me alone.

A buddy of mine received a call from this number as well, claiming that her computer has some issues. After reading through your remarks, I’ve told her to steer clear of these folks (she was still chatting with them when she reached out to me for some guidance). Cheers for the info! I’ll dive into her PC myself since I work in IT.

I received a call from this number recently, and it was the same old story as others have mentioned. The caller claimed to be from a company named Technical Help Line and introduced himself as Jimmy Wilson. I found that quite odd, considering he had quite an Asian accent. It raised a few eyebrows for sure!

This evening around seven, I received a call from this number, and the caller was attempting to gain access to my computer. I calmly informed them that everything was in order on my end and wished them farewell. Interestingly, they claimed to be from London and specifically mentioned Brent Cross. Quite peculiar, isn't it?

I received a call from the same number again. There was an Asian chap on the line, who seemed rather insistent about some issues I’d been facing. He didn't quite clarify how he was clued in on my troubles but mentioned that my computer might be affecting other things too. The name he dropped for his company was P C Wizard, with an office based in London. His first name was a bit tricky to catch, but I did manage to jot down his last name, which was Watson. He requested that I call him back at my convenience.

Just like many others, I received a call from an Indian woman identifying herself as Hayley. She was quite pushy, insisting that I comply with her directions to uncover various 'issues' that she claimed I needed to be aware of. Every time I probed her about the legitimacy of her claims, she was quick to assure me that they were a bona fide company and not a fraud. However, when I pointed out that such reassurances often come from scammers, she seemed quite flustered, reiterating that they had a phone number and a website. She even offered to provide me with the company's name and contact details, but abruptly hung up as soon as I mentioned I would look into it further.

I've just had one of those calls - a chap named Raymond, who had quite an Asian accent, bemusedly claimed that my computer was churning out malicious messages. He pressed me to switch on my computer - presumably aiming to gain access - to prove his point. I swiftly told him that wasn’t remotely true and requested to chat with his supervisor, to which he bluntly replied it wasn’t an option. He did provide a contact number and mentioned the company name as Tech Help Line. I pushed again for his manager's number, but he was adamant that wasn’t possible. Their website appears quite credible, yet I trust my instincts that it’s not genuine! STAY AWAY - you will almost never receive a legitimate cold call concerning your computer’s security!

I reckon this call is from a tech support number situated in Southeast Asia, attempting to resolve issues with computer systems.

I recently got a call from a chap named Jimmy Wilson-his accent suggested he wasn't from around here. He claimed to represent BT and insisted that my computer was downloading some programmes that were rapidly piling up. He was incredibly insistent, urging me to go online so he could assist me with this supposed issue. When I mentioned that I couldn't access my computer at that moment, he told me he'd ring back later since my device was apparently in jeopardy. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!
