I called BT/EE using my home phone because I was having some issues. After they did a line test, I got connected to a tech bloke. He needed to switch off my hub to make a few changes, which knocked out my phone line - so the same guy phoned me back on my mobile. The call showed up as this number, so it’s definitely BT/EE. Just a heads up though, scammers these days can fake numbers, so if you aren’t expecting a call from BT/EE, this might be someone pretending to be them. Sadly, even the phone companies can’t stop scammers from faking their own numbers!!!

The caller said they were from BT and surprisingly knew my first name. They then proceeded to request my full name, and when they started asking me to verify my security questions, I decided to end the call immediately. It felt a bit like they were trying to con me into handing over everything I own! If they were genuinely from BT, why on earth would they need to ask for those security details? Absolutely ridiculous behaviour!

08000285085 I just saw BT’s weak excuse on this site - if you’re not waiting for a call from the BT WiFi Team, it’s probably a mix up or the number’s been faked, so the call ain’t really from them. Sounds like they’re just dodging responsibility. It's about time BT quit outsourcing to these shoddy companies, they charge a fortune already.

Got a knock at my door from a cold caller earlier. Told them I'd deal with it when I wanted, no rush. Asked them to send me some info instead but they said no, then tried to get my bank details straight away. Absolutely not, even if it was BT, that kinda pushy attitude is just not on.

Just got a call from 08000 285085 on 16/03/23, I'm from Coventry. Since then, my 1571 message indicator won't go away. BT came out the same day but couldn’t sort it. Also found another number tied to it, 078777 2415, which is Telefonica, Slough but connected to Eastern Europe. BT need to be honest about this. At first, their rep admitted who they were, then started backtracking. What kind of rubbish service is that?

Got a call from BT way outside the time they said they’d ring. Been with them over 50 years but they werent much help. Felt like they couldn’t tell what was real and what wasnt.

Got a message claiming to be from “EE” saying my new phone order would be cancelled if I didn’t pick up a call from an 0800 number. That number rang me twice. I’d already got my phone that day so total scam.

Legit BT calls. Got a voicemail saying they might ring back if needed. Probably cause I’ve noticed their vans around here, so maybe some tech issue. I’m with UW, not Virgin or BT, which is why I looked it up.

It was a legit call from BT. A really nice lady phoned to follow up and check if the new router had fixed the problems with our internet.

Sounded proper like BT to me, was waiting on a call from them. I rang the number back and got an automated message saying no action was needed from me and they'd ring again later.

BT rang me to say my late mum wasn’t one of their customers. I didn’t get in touch with them myself but had submitted an online form to halt unwanted post being sent to her old address. I suppose this service reaches out to all the big firms to make sure they’re taken off their mailing lists. It was actually quite thoughtful of BT to get in touch, just in case I’d contacted the wrong company and missed one during all the admin stuff you have to deal with at a tough time like this.

I had a rather unpleasant encounter with a rather aggressive salesman who came knocking at my door. He managed to engage me in conversation for quite a while until he got my number to reach me later on. Curiously, despite my being a Plusnet customer, he seemed aware of my past with BT. His attitude was quite off-putting and he was excessively insistent that I pick up when an unknown number from 'BT' called. The line was absolutely dreadful; I could hardly make out what he was saying before the call cut off entirely. It left me feeling very uneasy, so I decided to block the number. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

Some bloke said he was from BT, told me to reset my router. I said nah, it's supposed to be replaced. He goes, 'oh right, we've done that already then?' Seemed a bit fishy, so I ended the call and he never phoned back.

I just had a ring from 0800 0285085. Chatted with a really nice bloke who reassured me it wasn’t a scam. He said he had all my hub info up and could check my network’s uptime. He even asked for my password which I gave him on chat. Plus, he knew my mobile number too. Looks like this is the real BT number, fair play to BT!

Someone phoned saying they were from BT, replying to a letter I’d sent. The phone line kept cutting out all the time, and when this person started asking for my info to update my direct debit, I just hung up. I did send a letter to BT, but now I’m really unsure what to believe. Feels like it could’ve been a scammer who got hold of my letter, or maybe BT just has shockingly bad phone lines.

The phone buzzed briefly 3 times and then cut off. When I called back, I got this usual Scottish sounding woman on the pre-recorded message saying I’d been called and they’d get back to me if needed. Pretty sure it was a legit BT call.
