The bloke claimed he was from some legal audit team working “with the FCA” and was checking up on insurance policies to make sure they’re up to date. He asked about my life insurance with Aviva but when I pressed him, he said he worked alongside Aviva, Legal & General, AIG and some London firm - but wouldn’t name his actual employer, just kept saying he was “with the FCA” and part of an “Enhancement Department.” Didn’t say which company he represented though. Kept asking about the value of my life cover, how much I paid monthly, even gave me a fake policy number. I stayed vague and didn’t give away any info. Then he told me my policy wouldn’t cover me past 65 - which is daft as I’m 76 now! I pointed that out but he pushed on, saying he could extend the cover for me till I’m 90 by switching to an over-50s plan at £35 a month, and beyond 90 I’d still be covered for free. I kept him on the line, asked for written options but he said no, I’d have to speak to a Quote Handler for that. I questioned it and kept the chat going. After around 20 minutes he finally said “we’ve talked enough” and ended the call politely. I reckon I wasted 20 minutes of his time and the person in charge probably realised I wasn’t biting and called it off. Looks like a long, drawn-out attempt to get me to sign up for some pricey life insurance at £35 monthly?
