Total scam! They said they were some tech experts but just tried to scam loads of cash from my mum and dad. Wouldn’t trust them for a second.

Someone called saying my computer was infected with a Trojan and wanted me to cough up £170.

Pretty sure this was a scam. I got a pop-up on my laptop from something called 'Easytechy' saying my computer was badly infected and to ring the number they gave. I couldn’t get rid of the pop-up or do anything else on the computer. When I called, it was an Indian call centre. The woman got remote access to my laptop and started showing me supposed viruses and Trojans. I was doubtful, especially when I asked why Windows Defender hadn’t detected anything during a scan, and she pointed out that part of it was apparently ‘paused’. It all seemed legit until she asked for £150 to fix it. While talking, I used my phone to quickly google reviews and found loads of warnings about these Indian call centres doing similar stuff. So I hung up and didn’t pay. The pop-up disappeared after and my laptop looks fine now, but honestly, no idea how I would’ve got rid of it if I hadn’t called them in the first place.

i dont think easy tech is real, feels like a scam to me. ive only had my laptop for like a week and now im gonna see if i can get my cash back. just seems dodgy!
