9 yearsOn the evening of 1st June 2017, I rang this freephone number and got through to a guy with a strong Asian accent. He introduced himself as "Jason Austin, a Microsoft Windows expert." Just a heads up, this freephone number is definitely part of a scam. It’s connected to a dodgy site called office-setupcom.omline/thankyou.php, which you should avoid at all costs. I fell for their trick and ended up locked out of my computer. Fixing it cost me £113 to have it reset and sorted out. If you happen to get caught by these fraudsters, who are incredibly slick, or even if you don’t, make sure to report them to Action Fraud, ICO, and OFCOM. It’s also crucial to alert your bank straight away. The more people report, the better chance authorities have to crack down on these scammers. I’m now assuming the computer might be compromised and won’t switch it on till a proper virus scan is done.
