100% a scam. Someone called about arranging a 'payment plan' for a last payment even though I’d already closed my Thames Water account. I’ve got a direct debit in place and the final bill clearly said the payment would be taken automatically. Got a dodgy call this morning, 25.06.2025 around 10:10. They said we hadn’t made our monthly direct debit payment, which was rubbish because we pay it every month. I even got a text from them the day before. The bloke on the phone had an Indian accent. I ended the call halfway through 'cos it felt off.

If you have debts, you really should settle them - but make sure you pay the right people. Avoiding bills is basically stealing and then the rest of us end up footing the bill with increased costs. Also, important infrastructure has to stay in government hands, not in the control of outsiders. Dodging payments won’t bring about any positive change!

If that call was really from Thames Water, then they're having a laugh. Every person I've ever dealt with there definitely didn't have a thick Indian accent. Honestly, don't ever give out your details to someone who rings up saying they’re from a proper company. Just hang up and ring the company yourself to check if it’s legit. 100% this is a scam, no doubt about it.

They wanted me to verify my details, but I just told them no and ended the call quickly. Definitely felt like a scam. My advice? Don’t ever confirm your identity with them. How come they’re ringing you but haven’t sent any message? When I get calls, my phone always flags it as spam. I always ask who they want, and usually they’re after someone called Wendy Douglas. I tell them they’ve got the wrong person, but they insist that’s the number they have. Then I just say I don’t actually live in the UK and don’t own any property there - it’s partly true. My advice? Don’t ever share your personal info with them!

Total scam alert! Someone rang claiming to be from Thames Water, even got my name and nearly the right address spot on. They kept hassling me about an overdue water bill from last week, and weirdly, they even knew the exact amount I supposedly owed. Seemed pretty clever at first, but when they kept pushing me for my credit card info, I got a bad feeling. There wasn’t any proper voice message, just loads of background noise like people chatting and office stuff going on. I couldn’t make out what they were saying at all. If it was something important, surely they’d have left a clear message?! Anyway, I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now.
