Got a call from some scammers claiming to be from Amazon Prime, sounded like they were based somewhere in India. The message was automated, saying I’d been charged £95 for a Prime membership. They then asked me to switch on my PC and install some remote access program so they could supposedly fix the problem. After that, they intended to ‘accidentally’ refund me thousands, then accuse me of fraud. Their plan was to make me buy gift cards to cover up the money they’d swindled, threatening to steal my info and wreck my machine if I refused. Proper dodgy stuff.
