Looks like a total scam to me, they try to send you a code and then request you to say it out loud even when they warn you not to share it.

At first, I wasn’t sure if the messages were legit. They had my phone number, the last four digits of my card, and even my bank’s name, which made me nervous, but I hesitated because other sites had mixed feedback about this number. I finally decided to call my bank just to be safe. Turns out, it really was First Direct on the line. They quickly cancelled my card and sent me a replacement. The suspicious charge was for £0.00 - apparently, First Direct have been seeing a lot of these zero-value attempts from the same US company. They use this to verify if a card is active before adding it to services like Apple Pay or Google Pay, where bigger transactions start happening and could empty your account. But after being passed to the cards team, they told me the text was genuine and that my card was actually frozen. They did warn me though, that scammers can fake their number. I got caught out as well. They said they were from First Direct, texting me to verify a payment. When I rang First Direct, they said they hadn’t sent any message, but the amount in the text was right. Luckily First Direct reacted quickly, blocked my card and gave me my money back straight away. I checked with First Direct and they said this number is linked to a scam. Don’t reply to any texts you get from it, as you’ll probably get two. Make sure to get in touch with First Direct straight away if you do. These con artists try to take 1p from your account first, which usually gets rejected, then they attempt a bigger withdrawal that goes through, forcing you to cancel your card. They call this the triangle scam, and the payees popping up are PM triangl and PMSP#EVE LOM. Just a heads up to everyone, hope this bit of info helps.
