Got a message out of the blue claiming it was from career services about some webinar.

Got a message from +44 7860 031200 that said something like, "Hello Manager, Everton FC Academy is putting on a coaching day for U13 and U14 kids on April 16th in Manchester. Please pick your top 2 players, including goalkeepers, who show great skill or athletic ability." The text wanted me to share a link with the chosen players too. It finished with, "Best regards, Rob, Everton FC Academy." I’m quite wary of this, especially since it’s aimed at kids that age group. It doesn’t feel legit to me at all. I’ve reported it as spam just in case.

Since then, they've kept ringing me nonstop. Honestly, the amount of scam calls popping up in the UK nowadays is mad!

Durham’s meant to be a smoke-free zone, but I keep getting calls from numbers like 07860031202 and 08007720565. I reported one recently linked to them but they didn’t even know it was theirs. It's getting stressful not knowing which calls are legit. This mess has gone way too far - there’s got to be someone to put an end to all these scammers and hackers. They’re basically stalking us, and it’s not just texts or emails anymore, it’s so much worse. The authorities really need to get a grip and put a stop to all this nonsense.

Received a message from this number saying they were from Momentum Warranties. I already have a car warranty with them that’s nearly up. The text had my name and included a couple of links with a discount for renewing.

I just got a text that said something like, “As we gear up for enrolment at Peterborough College, it looks like you haven’t accepted your conditional offer yet. Please reply with either: 1. Yes I accept my offer 2. No I am declining my offer.” I’m planning to go to college and this place is one of my choices, but honestly, this feels really odd and a bit risky!

Got a sketchy message pretending to be from a volunteer group, saying I was invited to "an event" on a certain date, and asking me to reply yes or no if I’m going. No details about where or what time! Surely a scam. Like others have pointed out, it’s concerning that they must’ve got some personal info, looks like there’s been some kind of data leak. Both me and my wife got the same text, but from two similar numbers: 07860 031201 and 07860 031200. Didn’t reply, just blocked and reported them straight away.

Got a text from someone saying they were Jane from Miles and Barr, saying they needed to come by for a property check as part of our tenancy terms. They gave a date for the visit and asked if we’d be home. They even knew our flat and address which made it sound proper, but when I searched the number on Miles and Barr's site, it wasn’t there. Really dodgy!!!

It told me to ring 01915165318 to book a brake fluid change (which isn’t their real number) or to go to "http://r.renault.co.uk" - clearly a scam. Said I could reply STOP to unsubscribe but I didn’t bother with any of it.

Got a text asking if I knew an electrician to fit a temporary consumer unit at some property nearby. Weirdly, it didn’t say who it was from or any company name, just said to reply to that mobile or ring 0191 466 1179. Seems dodgy, could be anyone answering. That number’s from Newcastle, so why ask for a temporary board and how do they even know what’s needed? Strange messag that made me suspicious.

Received a message claiming that my boiler was up for servicing to maintain the warranty, which is correct - but it's not actually due for another month. I responded, acknowledging it, but made sure to note the timeframe. Upon further inspection of the number, it seems dubious, so I decided to delete it and block the contact for good measure. Best to err on the side of caution, I reckon!

Got a text saying "We've sent the rebooking newsletter for February, deadline is 17.01.22 at noon. Cancellations HAVE to be done by email; to make changes, ring us. The consultant and hospital names were right, but the date and time didn’t match what I actually have booked. I called the hospital to ask about the new date, but they said they hadn’t heard anything about it.

Just got a text saying Labourers needed in Edinburgh urgently, £12 an hour or £18 on weekends, CSCS needed. The number they gave is 07516502860. Seems like a dodgy scam to me, seeing as my number is for work only and I’m not into labour jobs. Be careful and don’t bother replying.

Got a message from this number saying I've got a phone appointment on Monday. It didn't say who it's from but I do have a call booked then with Virgin Care Sexual Health to talk about checking my Hep A and B antibodies for possible boosters and sorting my next PrEP supply. It's a legit service message and it doesn’t ask you to reply or anything, so no way it’s a scam. It's just for info only.

It claims to be calling from Lister’s garage in Stratford-upon-Avon, yet based on the experiences of others, it seems dubious at best. Not sure if Lister’s has fallen into some dodgy dealings or what the situation is. Just a tip: always make sure to notify your mobile provider about these calls. They can take action and hopefully put a stop to it!
