Just got a call from some Asian bloke claiming he was from Citizens Advice. Told him to write everything down and send me a letter, trying to end the call. He then started shouting at me, calling me a "F#####G B###H". When I asked again where he was calling from, he got even more abusive, saying he was from my "F#####G P###Y you B###H". Needless to say, I blocked him straight away.

Got a call from an Asian bloke about clearing some debt, I told him I don’t owe anything. He got pretty nasty, so I asked for the manager. The manager was just as rude when I asked why they were ringing me. I told them I’d report it if they called again, and the manager just told me to F off! If this was a proper company, they wouldn’t be so disrespectful. Watch out for them!

Some guy claimed he was Steven from the citizens advice bureau saying I owed money and he wanted to sort it out. I told him it wasn’t true and I wasn’t buying it. He just said alright, bye then. Watch out for these calls!

Once more, got a dodgy call claiming to be from the DEBT ADVICE FOUNDATION, saying they were from the CAB (citizens advice bureau). When I asked for their Companies House registration, the number they gave me didn’t match anything I found online. Seriously, don’t give out any details to these lot.

Got a call from a guy with a Pakistani accent claiming to be from some "Credit investigations department" and asking for me by name. I don't owe anything so straight away it sounded dodgy. Plus, it was a mobile number and he struggled to say my name properly. No doubt it's a scam trying to get money. So annoying these people keep ringing up!

Got called 6 times from this number in just a few hours while I was busy at work! Looks like some scam from an Asian firm, just keep bugging people nonstop all day long. When I asked who she was, she said it was some sort of debt reference company. I told her she’d got the wrong number and then she just ended the call.

A legit debt collector always has some details about what you owe, or they’ll get in touch with the original creditor to get the info if they don’t. A genuine collection agency wouldn’t tell you to get that info from the original creditor. If they can’t give you simple info like when the debt started, how much is principal vs interest, the account number, whose name is on the debt, or if they tell you to ask the original creditor for that stuff, it’s probably a scam.

He told me his name was Tom, but had a weird accent and his English was a bit rubbish. Said he was ringing about some debt I supposedly owed. I just hung up on him. Honestly, either block the number or mess with them a bit, that’s the best way to handle these calls.

If you’re sure that the person ringing you isn’t a genuine debt collector, the easiest way is just to not pick up. Scammers are after quick results and easy victims. If you don’t react, they’ll just find someone else who will. When scammers think you’re scared or think you owe them money, and they know you’ll answer, they see you as an easy mark and won’t stop bothering you.

dont ever pay a debt you arent sure about. tell them youll take action they cant actually do, or say youre going to involve government agencies. real debt collectors usually dont play dirty like that since they want to keep their company legit. scammers however, couldnt care less about the rules and often bend or break debt collection laws without a second thought.
