Got a voicemail from someone claiming to be ‘HMRC’ warning me my national insurance number was at risk.

Got a call from 01244377983 with a robotic voice talking about some government Eco scheme! Then, 01244379055 called me about an hour later with the exact same message. Definitely stay clear of these numbers!

Its a scam! Best thing is to just block the number. Dont pick up as it confirms your number is active and then they pass it on to other dodgy callers and scammers.

This number just rang me and some bloke with an Indian accent called himself Dr Mahmood. He started going on about how I’m behind on my payments and said he could sort it out if I shared my info! Yeah, no thanks, I gave him a piece of my mind and hung up.

Called me three times earlier today, missed all, just picked up now. Some bloke with an accent asked if I was Barbara from citizen advice about debts I supposedly pay each month. My mum got a call from this number too, the caller kept insisting she hadn't paid off some kind of debt between 4,000 and 6,000 quid or something.

Just got a call from that same number. I asked if they could send me an email with proof of the debt they claim I owe. They said it was only a confirmation call but when I told them I don’t owe anything, they just hung up. Total scammmm!

They kept ringing me like 5 times, missed all but finally picked up. This woman said she was from citizen advice, claiming I got picked to have debts wiped. Didn’t feel right so just hung up. Then they called back twice right after each other. Totally feels like a scam 🚨 Beware!

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be with Moorcroft debt collection, trying to push an IVA on me. Said no thanks, then rang Moorcroft myself to check and they said they dont do that. Reported the number to them as well.

SCAM ALERT - The call kicked off by checking my name and then telling me I was clearing some monthly debts. I shot back, “Like most people I guess, but since this sounds like a scam, I'm ending this call now,” and hung up. The caller never said which company they were representing, which is a huge red flag. Just because they got your name and some info that likely fits most folks (who isn’t dealing with some debt these days?), doesn’t mean you should trust them or spill your personal details. Seriously, don’t fall for this kind of nonsense.

Got a call from this number but didn’t recognise it at all, so just let it ring out. If it was someone important, they’d leave a message and I’d get back to them. No message left, so just another time-wasting scammer. Checked the number here afterwards and saw loads of others annoyed by the same. As usual, blocked it and moving on with my day :)

Just forward any suspicious texts to 7726, the phone companies will look into it and block them out. If it’s a shady caller from a mobile, send 'scam caller' to 7726 and they’ll sort it and stop the calls.

Got a call earlier from some bloke saying the FCA was contacting him through the Citizen's Advice Bureau about some unsecured loans. I told him that wasn’t true and just ended the call. Then I blocked the number straight away.

I just reply quick before blocking with "go find a real job, you scammer!" These firms are selling our numbers to make some quick cash, which is totally illegal under the new UK GDPR rules. The government should really step up, but will they? Probably not, cause they’re likely tied up with the same companies pulling these scams on us.

I received a call from this number, claiming there was some sort of potential fraud linked to my phone. I abruptly hung up on them. When I attempted to ring the number back, a recorded message informed me that the line had been disconnected. Quite suspicious if you ask me!

If you get suspicious texts, just forward 'em to 7726, the mobile providers will have a look and block 'em. And if it's a dodgy mobile caller, send a text to 7726 with "scam caller" and they'll investigate and block that number.

just recently had my credit reviewed and now im constantly getting calls from this same number. they must be passing on our info to dodgy people somehow. how else would they have all our names, phone numbers, and stuff! its really gross and should seriously be banned.

These ones are proper sneaky. They change their numbers now and then but it's definitely the same lot. They even had my old name, which I changed legally two years ago, and claimed I owed loads of money. Complete nonsense. My credit score is solid and I’ve no debts, so where are they pulling this info from? Just guessing names and making stuff up? They’re risky because they sound believable but no official government department calls from mobiles, so always double check. Bet loads have fallen for their tricks. Absolutely disgusting, no scruples at all. Block, block, block!

Somebody calling claiming to be from Citizens Advice about my debts. Told them if they ring me again, I’ll report it to the police. They replied straight away with "I don’t take orders from anyone so piss off". Just blocked them after that.

2 out of 3 times he mentioned I’d get some info in the post to check out before moving forward. It all sounded pretty legit, maybe a bit too good to be true, but I went along since I wasn’t giving away any info that anyone couldn’t find anyway. Then he said he’d talked to a manager and that my debt wasn’t big enough for an IVA, but if I could pay £80 a month, they could convince all my creditors to back off - and that’s where the nonsense started.

apologies for another comment but this is my last one. when they passed me on, they told the next person not to bring up my mental health. absolute scum. they target the most vunerable and struggling folks, those who are just about managing each month. as I type this, ive just had 4 more calls, 3 from the same number and then one from 03309958217. definitely blocking them now.

Part 3 of 3. I asked what IVA meant and he totally dodged the question (Individual Voluntary Arrangement). Then he said he’d connect me to someone who could work out an amount to freeze and write off my debts. That’s when I ended the call. Only when I looked at my call history did I see he’d called from a mobile number. No legit government or charity scheme would ever ring from a mobile.
