I received a call about a gas meter change, and I must admit, it felt a bit dodgy at first. They kept insisting that I press one to receive a "complimentary" message. After the third attempt, and considering our meter was due for replacement the next day, I went ahead and pressed one. That’s when it all unfolded.

I received a call from this number, and it turned out to be just a helpful reminder about my gas meter replacement, which is scheduled for tomorrow through Scotia Gas Networks. They’re actually affiliated with Scottish & Southern Energy under the name Atlantic.

Who's giving me a bell?

I recently received a call from the same number, and it turns out it's from Scotia Gas. Since I'm getting my meter replaced shortly, I decided to give them a bell for clarification. The gentleman at the call centre mentioned that they’ve received numerous inquiries on this issue. Apparently, they're considering revamping their system to provide straightforward notifications indicating when they’ll arrive to swap the meter, along with the date and time details. It seems they are taking customer feedback on board, although it does sound like they’ve been stuck with an inadequate system handed down from a text-message service provider.

I find it utterly astonishing that companies would resort to a method allowing callers to manipulate their contact number just by tapping a few keys on the phone. It’s baffling, really! This practice not only raises eyebrows among those receiving such calls but also paves the way for all sorts of dubious scams. At best, it casts doubt on the legitimacy of the caller; at worst, it fuels a worrying trend whereby individuals might unwittingly fall prey to these shady tactics from masked numbers. It’s a recipe for confusion and mistrust, if you ask me!

We've also received three calls from this number and it raised quite a few eyebrows, so we hung up. Interestingly, we've got an appointment coming up this month to switch over our gas meter, so it's rather peculiar that they called us right when that was on the horizon! Honestly, what a ridiculous approach to communication!

I’m set to have my meter swapped out in a few days. I was away for the weekend, and upon returning home, I found three missed calls from this number. They rang at intervals of ten minutes. To be honest, even if I had been home, I probably wouldn’t have answered since I didn’t recognise the number at all.

I couldn’t agree more with Lisa-what a dreadful experience! Honestly, it might be wiser to fork out for your own engineers to handle the job. The lot at Scotia Gas are nothing short of cowboys, leaving chaos in their wake and somehow expecting you to cover their mess. Absolutely infuriating!

We just received a call from this number and thought it might be a scam, so we decided to hang up. However, after reading the first message, it all clicks into place since I’m scheduled for a gas meter replacement tomorrow.

I find it quite astonishing that pressing specific buttons on our phones can grant a caller the means to ring us, especially when companies resort to such tactics to manage genuine information. At the very least, it raises doubts in the minds of those receiving the calls; at its worst, it inadvertently nudges individuals towards falling prey to the deceitful rings from equally faceless numbers. It really does beg the question about the integrity of these practices!
