Got three texts saying they're from Virgin Media. Number: +44 7800 002204 Few hours after calling VM about some issues and setting up a visit. Heads up: This number doesn’t actually show Virgin Media as sender. First two texts say: Reply FIXED to stop the visit if everything's alright or else You might get a £25 fee if you miss the visit Third text asks: Is anyone at home showing signs of Covid-19 or been diagnosed? If yes, reply COVID. If not, reply NEXT. BEWARE, these are SCAM texts with no official company tag.

Somebody's pretending to be Virgin Media. I got in touch with VM about the messages I kept getting and they said that number definitely isn’t theirs. I had recently reported a problem with my network through their app and the message I received from 07800002204 mentioned exactly that issue. Not sure if it’s just a coincidence or if someone at Virgin Media is involved in some kind of scam. I’ve heard that Virgin Media actually fires quite a few staff for losing customers’ info, more than what they let on to the public.

Looks like whoever is messaging from this number knows I’ve also been getting texts from Virgin. The stuff with Virgin is done and dusted but now I’m getting messages saying 1. Expecting to see you 12pm to 4pm and 2. Ready to set up / Text HELP if stuck. Scammers often fake (clone) numbers from all sorts of companies that might have your financial details. SO BE VERY CAUTIOUS AND NEVER GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFO. Also, don’t click on any links they send. If you want to help stop these dodgy calls, get in touch with your MP and ask what’s being done in Parliament to make phone providers use tech that blocks fake or spoofed UK numbers from abroad. You can find your MP's contact info on the Parliament website, and they’ll usually reply.

Sounds like it could be Virgin Media. I got a message saying my upgrade was ready after I just switched my broadband plan. Seen others mention it’s from Virgin too, so I guess it’s real. Just remember, only bother if you’re actually with Virgin.

This is exactly what’s happening. Virgin Media outsources their call centres to Africa, and apparently, some workers there grab our numbers from their database and hand them over to scammers. If you’ve got the patience to hold on the line for a bit - I know it’s annoying - call Virgin Media and lodge a complaint. Get your mates to do the same. Consider all the folks who weren’t quick enough to spot the scam and ended up getting conned. Nothing’s gonna change unless we, the customers, stand up and take action.

Got a text saying it's Virgin Media, saying they'll be connecting me on Tuesday between 8am and 1pm. They asked me to reply with CANCEL or KEEP to confirm. I came across her on Fab Swingers, going by Hot and Cold. The name she uses is Natalie Beswick, and the number is 07392489170. She does shows on WhatsApp but asks for pay through Amazon or PayPal. From what I gather, she’s based in Blackley.

Even if this really is a legit Virgin number, remember any genuine number can be faked. It’s normally safe enough to open a text and have a look, just don’t click any links or reply by mistake. Same goes for calls - you can answer and say something simple like ‘hello’ but don’t give any more info unless you’re absolutely sure the person on the other end is real. Stay cautious everyone - it’s not straightforward these days!

like many others have mentioned, i also received a text offering a £20 discount if i wanted to reschedule, and obviously i said yes. i replied by text to confirm and got my appointment moved to the 23rd. the engineer arrived on time and was a really friendly guy, but unfortunately he couldn’t complete the work because he’d been given the wrong info about what needed doing, which wasn't his fault at all. so yeah, this number’s legit!

Virgin Media say they know nothing about this. I've been getting loads of texts from this number claiming to be Yodel about a parcel I’ve never heard of. It’s really frustrating but I haven’t replied cos I’m sure it’s some kind of scam or phishing attempt.
