I got a message from NewDay (the one linked to Debenhams) warning me about some dodgy transactions that I hadn’t made. I wasn’t sure what to do at first, but then TSB sent me a text about strange activity on a different account. I checked it out and found out someone had nicked my card info that was stored on Amazon or PayPal. I ended up getting in touch with the fraud teams for both cards and wiped all my saved payment details online. Hello, I recently received a text from a mobile number asking about a transaction on my House of Fraser card that supposedly happened on the 31st of August, with a total of £947.99. I want to clarify that I did not make such a transaction. Interestingly, the person who sent the message was aware of my previous transactions - a £79 payment to Amazon for an Amazon Prime subscription on the 30th, and a £100 payment to the Ansty Hotel on the 28th. Later, when a payment slipped through, I got a text from this number, listed as Carphone Warehouse on my phone, but I reckon it’s just that various shops share the same fraud team contact. On Friday, 10th April, I received a text claiming to be from my Tui credit card company, informing me about two suspicious transactions that may be fraudulent. The message instructed me to accept a call from the provided number, which supposedly belonged to their "fraud" squad. However, I decided to reach out to the actual Tui credit card helpline, who informed me that this is indeed a scam. Hence, I have already cancelled my credit card. They explained that my card had been flagged in a fraud alert they had received, which made it susceptible to unauthorized use. In order to ensure my safety, they wanted to verify if I had made any transactions that day. Although I had used my card, Debenhams believed it would be more secure to issue me a new one. Thankfully, they were able to assist me over the phone. I felt relieved that I had taken the proactive step of reaching out to them.

I received the very same text from this number, just a mere five minutes after a call from a chap named Richard on 07863870335. He started probing about our mobile device, asking all sorts of questions regarding our insurance and when we acquired the iPhone.
