I got a call earlier today from someone pretending to be my son, saying he’d got a new phone and I should get rid of his old number. They made up a story about being under pressure and having a bill to sort out, but the credit card wouldn’t work for 24 hours, so could I send £1650 to his account? That’s when I realised it was dodgy - my son knows very well I don’t have that kind of cash tucked away. Before that, I honestly thought I was chatting to him. Luckily, I hadn’t deleted his contact yet, so I rang him back and he was completely confused, had no clue what I was on about.

My mum got a WhatsApp message outta nowhere saying, "Hey Mum, new number here. Phone got water damaged, so you can bin the old one." It seemed so strange, like someone pretending to be me or something!
