I answered a house wanted ad in Exeter and they asked for money upfront. I looked into the email and phone number and found scams linked to them for years. If you’re renting, watch out!

Similar to what the previous person mentioned, I replied to an ad I found on Gumtree that I had put up. At first impression, it looked quite genuine, but then I did a quick search on the email address julietay2015@gmailf##] used for contact. Turns out, that email has been linked to several scams reported by others.

Got a text from this number after I put up an advert on Gumtree, the person said she was Julie Taylor. Things felt off when she asked me to pay a security deposit for a house I hadn't even seen yet. I had a quick search on her name and thankfully discovered it was all a dodgy scam.
