Absolutely awful! These scoundrels rang up my elderly mum pretending to be from HMRC, asking for her National Insurance number. When she said she didn’t have it, they threatened her saying the Police would come arrest her. It really frightened her and I’ve been trying for ages to get her to settle down.

Totally a scam! I’m self-employed and have an accountant handling all my taxes. Just recently, I sorted everything with HMRC and everything is clear. I received a call from this number earlier today. It was a pre-recorded message purporting to be from HMRC, stating that I was facing prosecution. On one hand, it’s quite alarming, yet on the other, it's almost humorous. The message didn’t bother to verify any of my details or even check if I was the intended recipient of the call regarding this supposed prosecution. You should really report this to Action Fraud. I got a call like this too and as soon as I heard it, I knew it was dodgy so I just ended the call. Even though I'm retired, I'm quite careful with security stuff. Don’t push any numbers or anything, just cut the call off.
