So this bloke calling himself Steve Tam, claiming he was from Microsoft, gave me such a load of rubbish! Kept insisting my PC was hacked and just wouldn’t stop going on about it. He rang me thrice back to back, moaning about why I hung up on him and saying this wasn’t a scam. Honestly, he nearly had me fooled - all he wanted was for me to turn on my computer and verify some “licence number” against what he told me. Proper dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be "Microsoft" at 8 in the morning. I told them the timing was way off. They said my PC got infected the day before and that I’d ignored their previous messages. That was apparently the reason for the early call. I told them I wasn’t interested and ended the call, but they kept ringing me non-stop for the next hour, easily about 20 calls. Sometimes I’d just let it ring until it went to voicemail, other times I’d pick up but stayed silent before hanging up.

To help put a end to these annoying scam calls that bother everyone and ruin things for the unlucky few who fall for them, have a look at the last 5 posts below. It’s actually quicker to report these scams than it is to write some posts here. The police NEED loads of info about the kind and amount of scam calls hitting the UK daily. REPORT EVERY SINGLE ONE!! I even saved the 2 police email addresses on my computer, so I can send reports practically straight away. The police really want to understand how big this problem is. Right now, they’re pretty clueless about its real size.

Got a call from a guy who sounded Asian, maybe Indian, saying he was from Sky. He asked about my internet and how it was going. Since I’m on the Telephone Preference Service list, I figured straight away it was a dodgy call. I told him I was pretty happy with my current provider, which isn’t Sky. He tried to cut in and say something else, but I didn’t hang about - ended the call right then and there while he was still talking.

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying he was from BT about my internet. He got proper rude when I mentioned I work for Virgin and use a company VPN, asking how BT even got my info. He kept insisting I prove I work for Virgin. I just laughed and told him to ring me on a Virgin landline or our 0345 number, not my mobile.

A scam ring from India claiming to be Microsoft, saying they're in Reading but ringing from a mobile. I thought I'd mess with them a bit since the more time they waste chatting to me without scamming, the less they can trick others. They follow the normal script on their screen, but if you throw them off it, they get proper confused. They even tried giving me advice for a Windows PC when I told them I use Linux! I really enjoy messing about with these scammers and urge everyone to do the same. The longer you keep them busy, the fewer people they can con.

I think they snagged my number when I put in some job applications on Indeed. They post dodgy listings for beginner jobs, then your phone starts ringing off the hook and emails flood in soon after.
