I guess my number’s linked to my name somewhere, but still, it’s super creepy how they figured that out. No matter if they claim to be from Shein, Argos, Lidl whatever - it’s a total scam. Don’t fall for it, block straight away.

Fraudsters keep pulling their tricks because lots of us here in the UK just grumble but don’t take real steps to deal with it. There were some posts shared here on 19/03 laying out what people should do. The action fraud website for reporting scams is shut now thanks to budget cuts, but you can still forward scam texts to 7726, plus use the gov.uk email that someone mentioned earlier on this thread. Reporting scams is the one way to fight back and hopefully put an end to these frauds.

Got a message from this number but they used the wrong first name, so I was suspicious straight away. They said I was just about to get an Argos voucher and had a link in the text. Decided it was dodgy and didn’t click on anything. Just blocked and moved on.

I kinda foolishly gave my phone number, email, and address to some site I spotted on a YouTube video, hoping to snag a £1000 prize. Was a bit desperate, honestly. I've been searching for work through job agencies, and now my phone and email have fallen prey to scammers. Every day, I get messages from this email ( [email protected]) and from the number 07520652333. I blocked that one, but then another text came from 07860054271 saying something like 'Welcome, your £100 towards Lidl is reserved, follow this link for more info: https://rwdsuk.com/951ade38'. If you want to stop them, you can text STOP, but it's annoying how persistent these scammy calls and messages are.

I thought I was on the official Zara site when I clicked the link, but it turned out to be a total scam. They had some sort of spin-the-wheel game promising a £750 voucher, so I filled out a survey and gave them my phone number and address. After that, they pushed me to download apps or enter bank details for supposed free trials. Definitely a dodgy site, definitely not legit!

Got a text from this number about a free voucher, which was weird cos I’d already grabbed one from the same site before. I rang the so-called ‘free’ number they gave, but after a few minutes my phone company cut me off, saying I’d hit my out-of-plan spending limit. I started receiving texts from +44 7860 054271 claiming I had won some money at Argos. When I blocked that number, they switched to another but sent the exact same message. What annoyed me most was they used a totally different name for me in each text.

Got a message saying I’d won £750 and it included a link. Luckily, my phone won’t let me call premium rate numbers so I didn’t get charged. It’s definitely a scam. I’ve blocked the number now. The whole thing seems connected to Google Play Games, so watch out for that. I’m also planning to report it to Google.
