I’m not a fan of pushy sales calls either, but just a quick heads up for anyone unsure about extended warranties: they cover you for as long as you keep paying, unlike the usual manufacturer’s warranty. We had one on our Stoves cooker, and when it couldn’t be repaired, Domestic and General gave us an Argos voucher worth £1100. Our new Hotpoint washer/dryer ended up costing us nothing. These policies aren’t for everyone, but they’re definitely not useless for everyone either. Just thought I’d share in case it helps anyone.

I got emails and texts straight from Hotpoint to confirm my order and delivery, but then outta nowhere I got a message from some random number asking me to reply with info. This feels like one of those sketchy scams you hear about. I didn’t bother answering. Fingers crossed my Hotpoint arrives fine just like the legit emails said, and not from whatever dodgy number that was.

Once more, I received a call from this number, purportedly to follow up on the registration of my new Hotpoint appliance. However, it's blatantly obvious that this is yet another scam attempt, aiming to collect personal details for nefarious purposes. It's definitely not the reputable insurance firm it claims to represent!

Complete waste of my time. They went on about things that really could’ve been sorted through some online form. I’m guessing they were trying to push some kind of “additional insurance” or the like.

Had a ring from this number regarding the delivery of some white goods. As I’m actually awaiting a delivery, I went ahead and pressed the confirm button, but I made sure not to tap on the subsequent text regarding an extended warranty!

It's clear that white goods suppliers are passing on customers' details! Quite irritated about this, to be honest! 🤔

Got an automated call about my washing machine delivery, and then got passed onto a company pushing an extended warranty. The person on the other end was really pushy, trying to get me to sign up for a monthly plan. I hung up and then rang Whirlpool, who said it’s not exactly a scam but they do hard sell you the warranty. Whirlpool have now taken me off their calling list. Honestly, don’t fall for this warranty company. They told me I can just sort out the warranty myself once my washing machine arrives.

I got a new Hotpoint washer from Domestic and General, and this number called me with an automated message to confirm when it’d be delivered. After that, they connected me to their call centre, where they tried pushing a policy for the machine. Bit annoying, coz the washer’s brand new and already comes with the manufacturer’s warranty. So yeah, it’s legit, but they do try to upsell stuff you really don’t need.

This is a really risky scam. You should send a screenshot of the message to ‘[email protected]’ - that’s the official police email to report any kind of scam via messages, emails, WhatsApp and so on. They usually reply with confirmation. Don’t click any links in the message, as they might install malware on your phone or computer. Also, make sure to double-check with whoever sold you your Hotpoint appliance.

Like quite a few others, I got an automated call first to confirm my Hotpoint delivery (which I did), then it connected me to a home call agent from Domestic and General who took down my info. Strange thing was, she didn’t ask what model of fridge freezer I have. I figured she might try to sell me an extended warranty, which I declined, so no card details were given. Bit odd they didn’t ask for a model or serial number to keep on file. Not sure if this was dodgy or legit, so I’m on the fence.

Just noticed a missed call from this number, but no voicemail left so I have no clue what it was about. Seeing other comments here, I recently bought a product straight from Hotpoint and expecting it to be delivered soon - never involved Argos at any point as far as I know, so if there’s a leak, it must be from Hotpoint or Whirlpool themselves. You can register your warranty right on the manufacturer’s website, so no reason for me to reply to random texts or calls from unknown numbers. I’ll just keep blocking and ignoring if they ring again.

This number kept calling and texting me, but I never picked up. They said they were from "Hotpoint Home Solutions" and mentioned a delivery date, plus asked me to sign up for a warranty. Oddly, Hotpoint sent me a message from a totally different number just now.

I don't usually return calls from numbers that I don't recognise. It's quite suspicious, particularly since it came through on a bank holiday related to the Queen's Jubilee. The date was the 3rd of June, 2022, at some odd hour like 01:00. It all feels a bit dodgy to me!

It seems quite apparent that Hotpoint is experiencing a significant breach in their database, which raises serious concerns regarding GDPR compliance.

thought this was about my washing machine being delivered, but after checking the number it’s clear it’s just a scam.

Could someone please send me that message again about Hotpoint? I’m in the Worcestershire area. Cheers!

Looks like there’s some dodgy scam going around in the Merseyside area now.

spoke with the hotpoint delivery guy and he told me this aint from them, said it’s best to just ignore it. reckon it’s a scam. he said if it was really hotpoint, the message would say hotpoint as the sender, not just some random phone number.

Received a call from Hotpoint’s service crew today. They wanted me to verify my address and sign up my new washing machine that’s arriving later this week.

Got a message from “hotpoint home solutions” saying they’d be delivering my new Hotpoint dishwasher soon. It asked me to reply with “confirm” if the details were right or update them if needed. I quickly replied “confirm” but then got another text about registering my manufacturers warranty and a 10 year parts guarantee with a link included. The link didn’t work at all so I reckon it’s a dodgy warranty scam tryna get my info. Definitely not clicking on that again!

I reached out to Hotpoint, and they assured me that this number is unrelated to them. They strongly advised against responding to the number or clicking on any links associated with it. Apparently, they weren't even aware of this issue and mentioned that they would be launching an internal inquiry to uncover who might be misusing their name in such a deceptive manner.

I received a text initially stating, "Greetings from Hotpoint Home Solutions. Your new Hotpoint washer dryer is scheduled for delivery to FLAT, *** 0JZ on the 1st of March. Kindly respond with CONFIRM if all is as it should be, or notify us if there are any changes needed." Following that, I got another message urging me to call in to register my appliance for a ten-year warranty. Today, I was alerted once more that my machine is set for delivery tomorrow. However, I've absolutely no clue where postcode 0JZ is situated, but I can assure you that I don’t reside in a flat there-I'm comfortably settled in a villa all the way in Spain! 😂 There’s no chance I’ll be clicking any links, ringing any numbers, or responding to such nonsense!

Got some texts saying they're going to drop off a washing machine at my place and wanted me to text back to confirm.

Got a call from Hotpoint telling me my delivery had been pushed from Thursday to Friday. Then they asked me to stay on the line to chat to someone about a free guarantee, but right when I was about to, they just hung up on me. Seemed a bit fishy if you ask me.

I got a call from someone saying they were ‘Hotpoint Home Solutions’. They wanted me to verify a delivery, which I agreed to. After that, they sent me a link to sign up for a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty but the link just wouldn’t open. Quite frustrating!

Had a call from Hotpoint Solutions, said it was them but on my phone it just showed up as a basic mobile number. Like most times when I get a call from Domestic and General, 9 times outta 10 it's some dodgy scam trying to get parts of your bank details, even though the genuine Domestic and General would already have that info anyway. Pretty fishy if you ask me!

Received a text the other day touting some extra insurance for my washing machine, promising coverage for a decade. They even included a dodgy link to sign up, but surprise, surprise, it didn’t function. Also listed was an alternative phone number. Total scam vibes all around! I’ve just dismissed it and blocked the number entirely.

I just received a call supposedly from Hotpoint, urging me to follow a link for a ten-year warranty offer. Quite baffling, really, as my dryer is only four years old!

Received a call from a legitimate number regarding the delivery of my new dishwasher.

They try to sneak in extra warranty coverage by tying it to your delivery. Heads up, they’ll keep offering appliance insurance at other points too, so watch out!
