Got a call about some marriage allowance thing, and I accidentally gave them my details! Can't believe I was so daft! Later on, I figured out it was a scam, so I reported it right away. Thankfully, they haven’t bothered me since. It's awful that these people do this - just goes to show how simple it is to fall for these tricks!

Like others mentioned, this number said it was Hyc and wanted my NI number for a tax refund. I told them to stop bothering me. They rang back after, so I blocked the number and then got a text from them.

I got a call from a woman named Gerry on 07513692280 about some sort of marriage refund cheque supposedly from HMRC. She asked for my NI number, but I refused to share it. After that, I started getting texts from the same number, so I’ve just blocked it now.

I received a call from someone claiming I'd won a £1250 marriage tax rebate, but they wanted to verify info about me and my partner. They even mentioned an address that wasn’t ours, so I just ended the call. Afterwards, they texted me the same story and asked me to click a link to confirm my name, wedding date, and NI numbers. It’s awful that these scammers keep getting away with trying to trick people like this.

Got a call on my mobile today (25/10/23) from the number 07479 638073 about something to do with marriage tax allowance. The caller said their name was ‘Ava @ HYT’ - seemed a bit fishy to me. They also followed up with a message afterwards. Decided to block the number straight away.

Got a call from 07479638073 claiming to be from HMRC and said I was due a refund. Just to be clear, HMRC never contacts you by phone or text like that. If you get texts like this, do what I did and report them by forwarding the message to 7726. They’ll text you back asking for the phone number and it helps them to block these scammers. EE have made it pretty simple to report scams now, which is a relief.

So, these people said they were calling about a PPI claim I’d done before. They seemed to know exactly how much I’d got back and even mentioned the card the refund was paid onto. They also had my address and bank details. Then, out of nowhere, they asked for my National Insurance number. When I said no, they started saying it was because of COVID-19 and that they had to handle everything over the phone. Seemed really dodgy to me.
