I got a text from this number with a message like “***** is your verification code for Patient Portal” but there was no info on who sent it or what exactly the code is supposed to be for, or when I’m meant to use it. My dentist did get in touch after not hearing from them for over three years, asking if I wanted to schedule a checkup. They then sent me a form to fill out online. So, I’m thinking the text might be linked to that, but I’m not totally sure.

Got a text supposedly from The Edge Dental Care Team - a private dentist I’ve never signed up with, but have heard of. My phone company marked it as a likely smishing attempt. The message went on about one of their staff taking a month off for some charity challenge I’d never come across, asking for donations and linking to two fundraising sites and a blog. Really odd - how did they get my number if I’m not even a patient there? Blocked the number straight away.

Got a couple of identical texts about an appointment with someone called Ben Longbottom, dated way off in 2025. My partner got the exact same messages at the same time too, which seemed a bit fishy. Then, I got a pair of more texts about another appointment with this same person, but this time for later in 2024. My other half, maybe a bit naively, rang the number from the messages. After a couple of beeps, the call just dropped. I'm definately going to block that number now.

Got a text early morning on 28/01/23 saying my dental checkup is due and to call Elm House dental surgery on 02085207117 to book. I haven’t looked into the number though. Problem is, I stopped going to Elm House ages ago and I’m pretty sure they’re closed today anyway. This is actually the second time I’ve had a message like this, the last one was over a year back. I’d really recommend people to double-check any texts like this before replying. Better to use a contact you trust than fall for a possible scam or spam, same goes for dodgy emails.
