It was totally obvious it was a scam, especially since they mentioned my elderly aunt’s name. As soon as I started asking questions, they just ended the call.

Got a ring from a really nice woman called Tracey claiming there’s a discount on some drainage insurance for our house, something about a policy from two and a half years back. She even knew my wife’s name and mentioned they already had our bank info, which felt off since we never took out any such policy. We’ve been getting a few calls like this lately, so it’s fishy. She said she’d post some details through, but I’m definitely going to watch our bank account closely for any dodgy direct debits now.

Received a rather unexpected text - no clue who it's from! It states that as of the 1st of April, there'll be a price hike owing to escalating expenses. They’re apparently grateful for our ongoing patronage! To stop these messages, just text back with STOP.

Got a call from someone claiming to be "Advanced" doing a gov backed energy check. When I asked for their complete company name and their website, they just said "Advanced" again and then just hung up on me. Total scam vibes from the UK, I'd say.

I got a call from someone saying they were with a “home efficiency team” covering my neighbourhood, talking about some “new rules regarding what’s stored in your attic.” I told her she sounded like a scammer pretending to be legit government, then just ended the call.

Got a phone call from a woman saying she was a home energy efficiency advisor around here. Didn’t let her finish, just slammed the phone down. These calls are such a pain. I always keep it brief and to the point - one warning shot and that’s it. I avoid any dealings with cold callers, no matter what.
