+44 7410 073639 just sent me this message. I’ve been expecting a parcel from China since Christmas, but it seemed a bit dodgy so I looked it up online. The text said: Royal Mail tried to deliver on 11/03/2021. Your package is waiting to be redelivered. Please pay £3.57 at royalmail-parceldue[###]. Seemed fishy so I didn’t respond.

1. Neva hand over your personal info to anyone saying they’re debt collectors. Real debt agencies already got that from whoever you owe. 2. Dont chat about any debt if some rando calls outta nowhere. Ask ‘em to send the official written notice as the law says first. 3. Dont pay up if you aint 100% certain you owe. Make em prove the debt is legit before you send money.

Watch out for debt collectors who push you really hard to pay up straight away, especially if they try to scare you. If someone’s saying they’ll take you to court unless you pay now, there’s a good chance it might be a scam.

Got a call from an Asian guy calling himself 'Ryan', said he was with some debt management firm linked to Citizens Advice. Claimed they could clear my debts for me. I knew right away it was a scam so I just kept him chatting, feeding him nonsense to waste his time and stop him from ringing someone who might fall for it. When I wouldn’t say what kind of debts I had, he started swearing at me, calling me a bloody idiot or something like that.

I couldn’t really catch which firm the guy with an Asian accent was from, even after I asked a few times. He claimed I’d won a laptop and £700. When I tried to get the company’s name, he said I must have signed up to their mailing list either recently or within the last 3 years. Then he asked me to confirm my address and whether I owned or rented my place, that’s when I just ended the call since it sounded too dodgy and didn’t add up.

Really pushy bloke with an Asian accent. He kept asking for me and when I said I think he’s got the wrong number he got all agressive and said I was lying and threatened legal stuff. Then he told me to end the call and said he’d be outside my house in a couple of hours. Well, I’m ready for him, got a cricket bat at the ready. I got a call from an Asian guy claiming to be a bailiff, said he worked for some finance department or something. When I checked the number online, it showed EE Limited as the real owner.
