Got a weird call from 01792423001, sounded like some scrambled voice, probably a call centre and definitely an Asian accent, not from Swansea at all.

Got a call from a guy with a foreign accent saying he was calling from a credit firm, claiming my £600 loan was approved. I told him straight up I didn’t want or need any loan. Then he said if I hadn’t applied, someone must have stolen my identity to get the loan. When I said to cancel it, he said he couldn’t do it himself but would connect me to his manager who’d take my info and sort it out. Something felt off, so I just ended the call.

Got a call from an Asian bloke on my mobile, said he was from Citizens Advice and that I owed some debts. When I told him I didn’t and asked him to stop calling, he just ended the call.

Got a call from 01791 898749, some automated American woman saying she was from BT and that my internet would get cut off today. I just ended the call straight away since I’m not even a BT customer. If I were older and not so savvy with computers or scams, that would’ve been pretty worrying.

Alright, here’s some advice for when they ring you again. Real debt collectors never randomly call, so it’s always dodgy. First, ask what they’re wearing and make it a bit weird. Second, if you’re into religion, try convincing them about your beliefs. Third, drag the call out using made-up details. Fourth, shout really loud down the phone. Lastly, get them talking about Brexit and their views.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from the Government’s Money Advice Service, saying they were doing a credit check. They wouldn’t tell me which company had shared my info, even though they called from a mobile. She insisted no data protection rules were broken, but then admitted my details had been shared without my okay. Total scam if you ask me! I ended the call straight away when I warned her that I record my calls and would report the data breach to the police!

So this bloke called me, said his name was Melvin and told me that someone apparently took out a £6000 loan in my name for home repairs. He even had my previous address and gave me some reference number. Then he told me to ring his team to cancel the loan straight away. He phoned back within 5 mins asking if I’d called. I told him I was going to report him to the police. Honestly, don’t pick up if you get this call, it's dodgy - watch out!

I said I wasn’t interested and he kept demanding ‘in what? in what?’ I told him whatever it is you’re calling about. Smelled like a scam to me. In the past day alone, I’ve been hassled by five different numbers, all saying they can help with stuff like my accident insurance claim, financial aid, or pushing to move ahead with a loan I supposedly applied for.
