Got a text that looked like it was from HMRC saying I’d overpaid and was gettin a refund soon. It said they’d send the money in 5 days after my bank sorted the payment. They wanted me to log in and prove who I was to get the refund. Nope, not falling for that one.

got a text from +447310325351 claiming to be hmrc about a tax refund. it said i had to verify my details by clicking a link so my bank could send the money. seemed dodgy tho. hmrc dont usually send texts or calls about refunds, they send proper letters, like a p800, through the post instead. better to go straight to the hmrc website to check rather than clicking on any links or attachments in messages like this. stay safe folks!

someone tried to scam me by calling about tax refunds, claiming to be from hmrc. they wanted me to confirm my details to get the refund, but it was obviously a trick.
