I got a text that just said "what's up" followed by "what you need", so I checked the number since it looked kinda like a local one but with a different code. Then it hit me it wasn’t a +44 number and I figured it was probably a scammer trying their luck. Ended up blocking it and marking it as spam straight away.

Got a call from +49 175320-653... it rang for about a minute but I didn’t pick up since I don't know anyone in Germany or have any reason to be there. Figured it might be one of those scam calls. Just thought I’d drop the number here so others can watch out and stay safe 🙏🏼

+49 176 43881987 rang me at 00:36 in the morning. My phone was on DND so I didn't pick up. The number is a landline based in Berlin, Germany. It seems like our numbers have been leaked or sold to scammers, cos most of the calls are from similar locations according to the hotspot map here. There’s no way they could know this info unless it’s been sold or shared somehow.

Got a call from Germany using this number: +498045622162. I answered but there was no response on the other end. I tried looking up the number on 1471 a few times but it didn’t come up. I tried calling it back and it said the number wasn’t valid. I have some mates in Germany I’m trying to reach, so I assumed it was them, but clearly I was mistaken.

Some bloke called saying he was Alex from Amazon or something. He had a weird accent that didn’t sound local. I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

+49 1573 7877264 phoned me claiming there was VISA fraud with my HSBC account. I just ended the call. Contacted HSBC directly. Watch out, it’s a scammer.

Got a call from 0049 2073849971, an Indian guy saying he was from BT's telephone preference service. Thing is, we left BT like 7 years ago, so I just told him to stop and ended the call.

Total nightmare, some scammer pretending to be from my bank. Since my bank isn’t even based in Germany, I knew instantly something was off. She kept telling me to click on a link she sent, saying my account was compromised and I’d be connected to fraud services. I just hung up. Later, I rang my real bank and they confirmed they didn’t contact me and have recorded this attempted fraud.

Got a call from 00492141375350, a woman with a strong Indian accent working in some call centre. She’s rang me before, pretending to be from Virgin. When I asked for her name, she just said “Mrs. ####”. When I told her off, she just replied “Because I can.” Proper nasty folks, no respect and clearly breaking the law.

Got two calls today from different 049 numbers. I picked up one and they just dropped the call, didn’t respond. The other I missed and they didn’t leave any message.

Got a call earlier today but didn’t pick up since the number showed it was from Germany. The number 049 53823670 appeared on my screen, seems to be from Bad Gandersheim in Lower Saxony. Pretty sure it’s just another scam!

For about a week now I've been getting calls mainly in the mornings from numbers starting with 049. Whenever I pick up, it's dead silent and then the call just ends after a few seconds. Honestly, the government ought to step in and deal with this kind of thing.

049 3079620177 - My elderly mum, who's 89, keeps gettin these annoying calls. The person on the line always says they're from "Amazon" and tells her there's an issue with her account. She has to pause whatever she's doing to pick up, and sometimes these calls come like multiple times a day. It's really upsetting and stressful for someone her age.

0492 031 5015 - Picked up the call and the connection was awful, loads of crackling and static. You could hear a bunch of people in the background, kinda like a café or canteen. Maybe a busy workplace, but there was definitely lots of clinking noises like spoons and forks. The bloke claimed my computer was being hacked, which was funny cause my laptop wasn’t even turned on. I just ended the call straight away.

Got a missed call from 0491471157 so I decided to check it out. It doesn’t look like a number I’ve seen before. Since our number’s withheld and we’ve already had a couple of dodgy calls this week (one pretending to be from "Amazon" about some account that doesn’t exist, and another missed call flagged as suspicious), we’re pretty sure this one’s dodgy too. We keep our number pretty private so not many people have it.

ages ago this number called my house phone. i had a phone that showed the caller id. obviously its not a real number. when i tried calling back british telecom played a message saying "the number you dialled is not in service". shortly after that i discovered that someone weird was eavesdropping on my landline calls. watch out!
