Got a call about insurance from someone claiming to be linked with Telekom Malaysia and AIG. Does anyone know if this is legit? Can either AIG or TM verify this?

Got a call from that number again today. I checked with TM and they said they do have a joint venture with AIG for insurance. When I asked why UNIFI customer info was shared with outsiders, they couldn’t explain. I also looked up AIG’s site and it does mention a partnership with TM for insurance.

Can't believe a telco would share our info with others for spam calls! Just got UniFi set up a couple of months ago...

This arvo, this number popped up but I ignored it since I’m still in Singapore and didn't want any roaming fees (my Malaysian SIM is just for getting OTPs).

After checking out what everyone’s saying here, I didn’t hesitate to block the number straight away.

I got a phone call from some bloke claiming he was with Unify and said they had a bonus to offer. I just told him I wasn’t bothered.

Got a call from someone saying they were with TM Telemarketing. They were pushing a free insurance deal linked with TM and AIG for six months, then mentioned a life insurance plan worth MYR 400k with a monthly premium of MYR 45. They seemed to have my IC, my home address, and even details from my Unifi bill. The person asked me to sign up straight away, but I said I needed to check with AIG first. She gave me a contact number for AIG, which I looked up online and it matched the official number. I’m not sure if this is a scam or legit. The main thing that’s bothering me: how did TM give my personal info to these marketing people? Isn’t sharing customer data like this against the law?

I kept getting calls from this number like 7 times today but didn't answer any. Later on, I looked it up online and found out it was a telemarketer. So, I ended up blocking it. Cheers for the heads up, really helpful!

Someone called Ikhwan Hazeri got in touch, saying he’s from AIG INSURANCE and working with TELEKOM MALAYSIA. He told me they’re giving away free PA insurance for six months, then it ends. Does anyone know if that’s legit or just a scam?

Someone said they were from Telekom Malaysia Berhad and had my full name and address spot on. I'm guessing they got it straight from my phone bill since TM is right there on it. Honestly, TM really ought to rethink how they handle this data. She told me they'd give me and my partner free life insurance for six months, which would then just stop automatically. I was like, sure, why not? Asked her to email me the details but she wanted my email; I told her TM must already have my contact if they want to send promos or anything. She said it was just for their records. After that, she started pitching more stuff, but I just hung up.
