Looks like a proper scam to me. They acted like they were from HSBC and even had my full name. Watch out, because the genuine HSBC number is just one digit off from the fake one - really easy to mix up. I got tricked by these scammers before with a different fake HSBC number, and they phoned again a week later. This time I caught on straight away.

Got a call from some bloke claiming he was from HSBC, said our company was involved in a dodgy transaction with Watches of Wales. He told us they’re looking into fraud on our account. When I told him we don’t even have an account with HSBC, he quickly backtracked and said there must be a mix-up with their details. Ended the call after a quick sorry. The guy spoke English quite clearly.

We got a call the other day to one of our businesses, and I knew instantly it was one of those scams we've had loads of times before. The bloke hung up quick, but a few minutes later he rang another of our companies with the same story, acting like he was from HSBC fraud and asking about a sale to Watches of Wales.

So this bloke rings up, says he's Mr Stevens from HSBC or summat like that, trying to chat about a payment to Watches of Whales. I just told him whales can't possibly wear watches cause they ain't got any arms! Total scam if you ask me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from the HSBC fraud team. They actually mentioned the company and even one of the directors by name. Sounded like they spoke English, no noticeable accent. Be careful tho, cause the phone number was almost identical to HSBC’s real line. Don’t ever hand over any info!
