Got a bloke with what sounded like a posh English accent, calling himself Michael Stevens. He said there’s been some fraud on a NatWest account. When I told him I actually bank with Barclays, he said all banks are connected. I asked for a phone number to ring him back, but he kept refusing, saying it’s on the back of my card. After pushing him a few times, he finally gave a number ending in 346, but it wasn’t Barclays. Looked it up online and found loads of similar reports. I hung up on the withheld number and made sure to contact Barclays straight away to let them know.

Supposedly from the Barclays fraud team. I’ve gotten quite a few calls like this from different phone numbers. Most times I just end the call straight away, but occasionally I’ll tell them to hold on while I get my recorder ready, then they usually just hang up. I’m aware that if there’s a real issue, Barclays will reach out through the Barclays app on my phone. If you’re unsure, best to hang up, wait about 15 minutes, then ring the number on the back of your card yourself.

Got a call from this number today saying it was Barclays fraud team. The guy sounded really professional and even knew my name, address and the last four digits of my card. He told me there'd been three big payments on my account which were stopped, and that a new card would be sent to me soon. Now I've got the hassle of waiting for the new card to come through. Just a heads up, the number that showed up on my phone was off by only one digit from the real fraud dept number, which I rang straight after.

I've taken the liberty of blocking this number. The initial call came through a couple of days back from Germany, which I chose to ignore. Then, just five minutes later, I received another call from the same number, but this time it was supposedly from the UK. Coincidentally, my Barclays debit card was tampered with, resulting in five unauthorised transactions just yesterday. I've alerted the fraud team at Barclays and had my card blocked promptly.

Went through a few comments and figured out I ended up losing 99p. Got a text saying I had been near someone with covid and needed to get a test kit through a link they sent. I ordered it but never got the kit. After that, they probably used my info to ring me but I didn’t answer. Looked it up online and have blocked the number since.

Received a dodgy call from someone claiming to be part of the Barclays fraud prevention team. Just to be safe, I rang up Barclays directly, and they confirmed that they had never made such a call. Funny enough, I had actually cancelled my card just a few hours prior!

Got a call earlier from this number. The person on the line knew my name and where I live, which seemed quite legit. They mentioned a payment of £259.99 to Argos in Manchester. But I’d already cancelled that card last week due to some fraud issues. Definitely a scam, even though they said I could ring Barclays directly to check.

Somebody called me claiming to be from Barclays fraud dept. Said someone tried to use my card at Argos but the bank stopped it. He gave his name and a ref number to sound legit. Then he asked for my Pinsentry details which made me uneasy. I told him I wouldn’t share that info and ended the call. He tried ringing again twice but this time he didn’t show up on caller ID. I’m defo blocking the number now.

I believe this number is associated with Barclays bank, albeit with the final digit swapped from 5 to 6. It was involved in a significant fraudulent activity targeting my Barclays accounts just last week.

Someone rang up pretending to be from the Barclays Fraud Team, saying they had blocked two transactions on my account. They were pretty slick, had all my personal details like name, dob, address and phone number which made it sound legit. But when they asked for the code from my banking app, I didn’t give it to them, told them I wasn’t comfortable. Then the person tried to scare me by saying if any money was taken out i wouldn’t get it back because I hadn’t cooperated with their fraud team. I’ve since contacted Barclays directly, and they confirmed it was a scam.
