This number really does belong to RBS, it’s even printed on your debit card. What’s worrying is how easily these bank numbers can be faked or cloned by scammers. If you ever get a random call that seems to be from your bank - even if the number is saved in your phone - don’t just trust it blindly, but don’t just brush it off either. Hang up straight away. I rang this 0345 724 2424 since it came up first on Google for RBS customer support. The automated message sounded a bit odd? It said something like, “Hi, thanks for contacting Royal Bank of Scotland, a proud member of team BT. Colin Jackson, the ex-athlete, is on our team!” After waiting ages, someone finally answered and asked for my account number and sort code, then seemed to know my balance. Then the call just dropped. Why hasn’t RBS asked Google to take this down if it’s a scam?

Some bloke called 'Adam' claiming to be from RBS Fraud team rang me up. He wanted me to verify my DOB, which I refused to do. Unlike the usual security checks my bank does, he wasn’t budging. I received a rather troubling call from the Bank of Scotland, claiming that I had arranged a direct debit for an amount of £800. This number is actually printed on the back of your RBS debit card, so it’s legit. HOWEVER, scammers have faked phone numbers from pretty much all banks. If you get a call from your bank, don’t just ignore it but hang up and make sure the line’s dead. Then ring your bank using the number on your card or from your online account info to be safe.

I recently received a call from this number, and it was supposedly the fraud team from RBS. They claimed that there had been suspicious activity on my online banking and insisted that I needed to immediately update my login credentials. What raised my suspicions was that this call came on the very same day I had a conversation with the genuine RBS fraud squad, which made their story sound plausible. When I asked how I could be sure they were legitimate, their reply was to search the number online. But as soon as they pressed for my secure login details, alarm bells went off. I firmly declined to provide any information and suggested they give me a reference so I could contact the fraud team directly myself. That’s when they abruptly ended the call. It’s clear they create a sense of urgency to throw you off balance. A word of advice: NEVER divulge your full passwords. Real banks will never request that sort of information over the phone. Stay vigilant!

When we asked why he wasn’t Russell Webb anymore, he got all muddled and kept going “what?” over and over. Told him we knew it was a scam and he just hung up. Proper pathetic, honestly. Got a call from 03456242424 claiming to be someone called Russell Webb, but it was a total scam. They asked me to confirm some recent bank transactions and sent a text with a code and all that. Seemed pretty legit at first, but I called my bank right after and they said it was a fraud attempt. I nearly got duped myself. They were fishing for the first line of my address and a handful of other security details. I'd just chatted with my bank a few days prior about some dodgy transactions on my account, so I was initially convinced it was above board. The chap claimed to be from RBOS, a bank I don’t even deal with, then mentioned that my bank and RBOS were now under the same umbrella. They then insisted I set up a new account and move all my savings there. That’s when the alarm bells started ringing and I told him I’d ring my bank for confirmation. The bloke got rather agitated, claiming he was merely trying to assist me. I hung up and contacted my bank straight away, who assured me it was a scam.

I received a call from a rather ineloquent chap with a distinctly British accent, stating that a payment of £799 had been made from my RBS account in Aberdeen. I decided to ask him a few questions, but to my surprise, he abruptly cut the line. Somebody called saying they were from Bank of Scotland fraud dept, but I checked with the bank and they said it was a scam.

This call is a total scam, apparently it’s meant to be RBS’s helpline. But when I rang up RBS myself, they had no clue about the caller or the card issue they claimed. The guy at RBS said this kind of trick is really common. If you get a call from this number, call RBS directly using their official number to be safe. The scammers just copy the real number to fool you.

We've never had an account with them and the moment I said our number is ex-directory, they hung up quick sharp! Gotta be up early to pull one over me, scammers! ???

RBS calls to this number cost 50p a minute. We’ve ended up paying over £16 just because they messed up changing an elderly lady's address and online banking info. Complete rubbish, charging customers for calling them - feels like they're just trying to make money from us!

This number got cloned - it’s pretending to be a Scottish bank. We don’t even have an account with any Scottish bank. They’ve faked the real RBS/Bank of Scotland phone number. Seriously, don’t share any personal info. If you’re worried there’s an issue with your account, call the genuine RBS/Bank of Scotland number that’s on their official website. Avoid this number at all costs.

I've just received a call from this number, and I have to say, it seems like a total con job. The person on the line claimed to be from RBS and mentioned they were aware of my key worker status. They inquired if I required a loan, which sounded all too familiar. Remarkably, she suggested she would ring me again from her personal mobile since I was preoccupied and their office hours were nearly up. She certainly had a believable tone, but I'm quite suspicious.

Just last night, my partner received a rather distressing call from this number, claiming there had been suspicious transactions on her bank account. They proceeded to request that she disclose the balances of all her accounts! They ominously told her that her account had been frozen and asked if she wished to transfer any funds. Thankfully, she firmly declined. The caller mentioned that someone would ring her back to sort out the supposedly frozen account and enhance her security with a priority phone call. True to their word, the same number rang again shortly after, this time asking for her date of birth. At this juncture, alarm bells began ringing in her head, and she wisely chose to hang up. This morning, she contacted her bank, only to discover that there was no record of any communication from them, her account was in perfect order, and there was no fraud detected whatsoever. Please take heed of this warning and spread the word to everyone you know!

Watch out for these con artists! They called my wife and remarkably knew her name. This wasn’t their first attempt today; they’d been at it several times. They even had the audacity to spoof the official RBS Fraud line, 0345 724 2424. Claiming there was dubious activity on her account within the last 20 minutes, they pressured her to verify transactions. Thankfully, she had the sense to ring the number on the back of her debit card instead. They’re cunningly exploiting the current pandemic situation, knowing full well that the usual RBS fraud line has been a bit hit-or-miss. They blatantly acknowledged this too. Interestingly, the recorded message on the RBS line does provide an alternative number for emergencies, and it turns out the bank hadn’t tried to reach her at all today.

Today, I received a couple of calls from this number. I chose not to answer as it sounded suspiciously like spam. Banks generally don’t reach out to their customers directly, do they? Better to be safe than sorry!

Got a missed call from this number which showed up as RBS on my phone. It's supposed to be RBS customer service. I rang the RBS fraud department and they told me that their customer service team doesn't call from this number, so it’s definitely a scam using the RBS number to trick people. Don’t pick up, but if you do, just hang up straight away. Better yet, switch your phone off for a bit then ring the bank’s fraud team to make sure your account hasn't been compromised.

The only way I know these w****** are scammers is because I’ve never banked with Royal Bank of Scotland. This number showed up as Royal Bank of Scotland's digital banking. I didn’t pick up, but I rang the bank afterwards and they said they hadn’t tried to contact me. They reckon it’s a scammer pretending to be them. The bank told me any real call from them would be from a blocked number, not this one. Be careful and don’t trust calls from this number.

Someone from Leicester phone me claiming to be from the RBS fraud team saying there was suspicious activity on my card, which wasn't true. They somehow tricked me into giving them my 4-digit code and online banking password by making me answer what seemed legit security questions. Honestly, the scam was really convincing and quite complex. They kept ringing me a few times, so watch out. I ended up losing £130 and can’t get it back because I didn’t realise I was giving my info to scammers. Be very careful!

They told me my Visa debit card beginning with 4 had been charged multiple times. Then he tried guessing account names, clearly fishing for one that matched mine. Real slick talker. Tried getting me to read out my card details. I ended the call after about a minute, it was pretty clear he was following some scam script. Watch out, he was super polite and friendly.

This is definitely a scam using a stolen bank number. They act like anti-fraud and ask for 3 digits and 3 letters from your login info - that’s how they get access to your bank. They try to calm you down by talking over your direct debits but then the card reader comes out, and only then you realise something’s wrong. Don’t be tricked, ring your bank straight away!

This call was legit, it was from the Royal Bank of Scotland. I didn't pick up but the lady left a voice message saying she was from a RBS branch and wanted to arrange an appointment to talk about my bank account and how they could assist me more.

Some bloke said he was from RBOS fraud. He was already logged into my bank account and knew my balance so it seemed legit but then he said my account was being hacked and I had to do stuff to stop it. Don’t freak out like I did and trust him. He ended up nicking £7,000 from my account.
