I received a call purporting to be from the fraud department at Santander. I was rather sceptical about it and suspected it might be a scam.

Got a call on 28/01/22 from someone saying they were with the Coop Bank, talking about some fraud tied to buying or insuring a Mercedes. We quickly realised it was dodgy since I’m not the primary account holder. I handed the phone over to my husband, who got straight to asking why they even called my number when the Coop didn’t have it on file. When he pressed them about which account they meant, they just cut off the call. Pretty obvious they were scammers who got caught out. Scary part was that they actually knew I was with the Coop and had my name, which made me uneasy.
