Got a call from someone claiming to be with Halifax saying there was odd activity on my account and they needed to lock it down. They sounded really believable and even told me my current balance! I had fallen for a phishing email pretending to be from Royal Mail earlier, which was super convincing too! I nearly went ahead, setting up a new sort code and account, which would’ve cost me a lot. Luckily, when I looked up the number on here, I found out it was a scam.

I've just had a run-in with what seems to be a dodgy call masquerading as Halifax. They were all too keen to ask whether I'd transferred any cash to someone named Mohammed Hussain. To add to the shenanigans, I received a text from 60298 saying, 'Your debit card has been paused to safeguard against fraudulent activity. We'll reach out soon, no action required on your part'. Just a word of caution-don't divulge any personal information to these scammers!

Then he told me someone named Collins in Scotland was trying to spend £120 on my card. I said I’d ring up Lloyds myself to check, but he warned that doing so might let a “scam” go through and couldn’t be stopped. When I contacted Lloyds later, they said the number he called from isn’t linked to them at all.

Got a call late at night, around 9pm, from someone saying they were with Halifax bank. They claimed there was suspicious activity on my account and tried to get my security info. I didn’t give them anything and said I’d ring my bank to confirm. The caller said that was fine. When I phoned the bank, they told me it was a scam call trying to trick me.
