This bloke named Derek said he was from Halifax, but as soon as I mentioned I was checking his number on this site and saw it was flagged as a scam, he tried to convince me otherwise. He kept promising to send a text, which never showed up. When I pointed out the transaction he was talking about wasn’t in my banking app, he insisted he knew I was using an Android. I’m actually not, and when I corrected him, he just ended the call. Seems like the scam somehow needs you to be on Android or something. Bit disappointing, I was keen to keep him hanging for longer.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with a tech firm saying our "Firefox" protection ran out and they were going to take £800 from our bank today for a 5 year renewal. Someone rang claiming to be from Halifax Fraud team, saying there was an attempt to take money from my account for something called Icard linked to cryptocurrencies - not something I’m into. They phoned me on Sunday evening and said my card would be cancelled. They also said there was malware on my phone and they’d text me a 6-digit code to enter. I told them I wasn’t happy with the call and they asked me ‘Why not?’ which felt really sketchy, so I just hung up. The number was 0345 520 3040 - supposedly a bank number.

I've recently encountered a rather cunning scam from this phone number. They messaged me claiming there was a dubious transaction linked to my account, then proceeded to request a whole bunch of personal information. Whatever you do, don’t engage with any calls from this number. I highly doubt that Halifax would ever reach out to you this way!

Got a call from some bloke saying he was Lewis from Halifax's fraud team, saying there was a dodgy £269 Amazon payment that got stopped. He kept pushing me to check my balance and recent payments. I didn’t call him back though, instead rang Halifax myself on a different phone and number. They said it was a scam for sure. Watch out, they sound really legit.

Its a SCAM. Check the last 4 digits, 4030 - the real Halifax Bank number ends with 3040. They claim there’s been some suspicious activity on your card or account. Then they say your account must be shut down, and while on the phone they’ll send you texts and pretend to help you set up a new account. This seems linked to NHS emails asking for £1.99 for a Covid passport barcode or messages claiming to be from royal mail.
