Got a call from someone saying they were from Barclays fraud team, said £7,200 had been taken out of my account by Amanda Smith. Claimed they’d frozen it to make sure it was legit. Told me to open a web browser for a live chat to prove who I was speaking to (supposedly Adam Clarke). It felt dodgy straight away, so I didn’t go along with it. Rang Barclays myself and they told me it was a total scam! The case number they gave didn’t match any Barclays reference at all.

Got a call from a Barclays business number claiming to be David Mathews from their fraud department at Cannery Wharf. They were saying there are two big transactions happening from my account. Turns out, there is a David Mathews in fraud and security, but he’s not with Barclays. Watch out, these scammers are dangerous!!!!!

They were saying they were from Barclays, but it was a scam. Oddly, they used a number that looked genuine, so I nearly fell for it. Thankfully, I called the official Barclays number to check instead.

A nicely spoken lady claiming to be with Barclays called, but ended the call as soon as my missus passed me the phone. She was asking me about £700 supposedly linked to Facebook. Quite a rubbish scam to be honest, but watch out for it.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from the bank's fraud team, saying they’d been trying to reach me on my mobile. Didn’t say which bank at first, only told me it was Barclays when I asked. I don’t have any accounts with Barclays, so I just ended the call.

Caller said: "Hi, this is James from Barclays' main office. Can I talk to XXXX?" Me: "This is XXXX." Caller: "I'm calling from Barclays." Me: I hesitated a bit and said, "Alright then." Then they just hung up. Pretty clear it’s a scam - what’s odd is they already had my name and number, which is more than usual.

This has happend to me two times now. Its 100% a scammer using Barclays number on the caller ID. Just hang up and ring Barclays yourself to let them know. They tried to steal £11,000 from us.

This number just rang me up pretending to be from Barclays. I didn't share any details they asked for, and they just hung up on me. I then tried ringing Barclays myself. Took me like 3 calls and half an hour before someone answered. The bloke on the line said he couldn’t get into my account but kept having a go for another 20+ minutes. Then he told me to ring back in 2 hours!!! Nah, didn’t happen. Looks like Barclays are really cracking down on fraud, huh!

Got a call from someone saying he was David from Barclays security. He knew my business account name plus my landline and mobile digits. The call showed as coming from the genuine Barclays number 03456052345 on my phone. Pretty sure he faked the number since when I did 1471 on my landline it just said number withheld. He claimed there had been two big payments on my account but I checked online straight away and everything was fine. I'm almost positive it was a scammer. Didn't give him any info.

Never give out any details to these scammers no matter what. It’s super simple for anyone to fake a phone number - the number 0345-605-2345 shows as Barclays, but scammers can make any number appear on your caller ID. They ring up and ask you to confirm it straight away. We got calls on both our business landline and mobile (both numbers public on our website, while theirs was hidden) claiming to be from Barclays head office, saying there were two big payments to SR Ltd on hold because they suspected fraud. Don’t share any info - always ring Barclays or your bank yourself to check.

Some bloke called saying he was with Barclays Level 3 security and mentioned two big payments about to go thru to Fox Ltd. He even knew my sort code and account number but never asked any security questions. I didn’t give him any info. I rang my Business Banking Team, and they told me it wasn’t them and it was a scam. Turns out, there’s no such thing as a Level 3 security team.
