I swear this is really the co-operative bank calling, not some random scammer! I kept trying to add my new card to Apple Pay but it kept failing and set off a fraud warning. If you’re worried it’s dodgy, just call 159 yourself and you’ll get connected to the same people.

If you’re unsure about a number claiming to be a bank’s fraud team, you can ring 159 - it’s a national line that connects you to the right fraud department (just look up ‘stop scams uk’ for more info). That said, this number is legit for the Coop, which I confirmed by ringing the number on the back of my card and getting through to them directly.

Best to avoid calling that number. Instead, try 159. Although it's a Co-operative phone line, it appears to be inactive at the moment. If you receive any prompts to ring this number, I’d recommend steering clear and reporting it to the Co-op straight away. I don’t bank directly with the Co-op myself, but I do use one of their affiliates, and they sent me an email urging me to use this number. It seems that fraudsters are now employing platforms like this to peddle the idea that certain phone numbers are genuine. March 2024

Got a message telling me to call this number about fraud on a card that’s not even mine? Total nonsense. My tip: always ring your bank using their official number, don’t trust these scammers. Those giving good reviews are either tricked or in on it.

This was total scam, I used to be with coop bank and knew how they handle security so quickly realised this wasnt legit. I told the lady I felt uneasy and would hang up then call the bank directly to check. She then said if I did that, they couldn’t promise no more fraud would happen. That made me suspicious straight away so I cut the call. When I got through to the bank, my doubts were confirmed. Watch out for this one!

Totally a scam, used to be at the coop bank so know how their security works. This call was nowhere near legit. I told the lady I wasn’t happy and that I’d hang up and phone the bank directly to be sure. She then said something about not being able to promise no more fraud if I did that. That really sounded dodgy, so I just ended the call. Called the bank afterwards, and yep, I was right. Watch out for this!

Got a voicemail from the co-op fraud squad asking me to ring them back on this number. I couldn't spot it on their site, so I gave them a direct call instead. They told me this number is legit - definitely from co-op bank, so I’d say it’s safe to trust.

This was for the Co-op, I actually called them up to double check if the number belonged to their fraud department. First I phoned the suspicious number itself, then I gave the usual Co-op number a bell and had a couple of people there confirm it’s definitely theirs.

Just got an email about 4 payments being blocked through Apple Pay, so I rang the co-op and spoke to them to sort it out. Must be them causing the issue.

I got a call from this number and it turned out to be from the fraud team at the co-operative bank. To be sure, I phoned another official contact number of the bank and they confirmed that this number was legit.

This number really belongs to the fraud department at the Co-operative Bank. I got a call from an 'Unknown’ number and they left this one for me to ring back. When I checked, my card had been blocked, so I tried the main Coop contact on their website, but the wait was ages. I decided to ring this number instead. Even though they calmed me down, I still felt uneasy, so I popped into my closest Coop branch and they sorted out unblocking my card. It’s definitely a legit number, but if you’re worried, best to visit a branch just to be safe.

I recently got a secure message from Smile, saying this number actually belongs to the Smile/Co-operative Bank fraud team. I mentioned to them that since they don't publicize this number, it’s only natural customers might be wary. Honestly, it’s safer to call back using a number you can find officially advertised.

This definitely isn’t the Co-op Bank. I’ve seen loads of listings on here claiming to be the Co-op, but it’s a trick used by scammers who abuse this service to con folks. Watch out!

Ignore the good reviews you see here, they’ve been put up by the scammers themselves. The number 0345 6000 529 isn’t actually the Co-op Bank’s contact. If you call it, it pretends to be the bank, and you’ll get put through to a queue, but eventually, you’re talking to a fraudster. If you get any messages, calls or emails claiming to be from Co-op Bank warning about fraud and asking you to ring urgently, just use the number on your debit card instead. That’s the only one you can trust. Don’t ever phone a number that’s in an email or text, it’s risky.

I got a voicemail from a withheld number, which turned out to be the Co-op bank’s fraud hotline. They do this thing where if anything funky pops up on your account, they check it out properly. After confirming who you are with a few security questions, they review your latest transactions to make sure everything’s legit. They were very detailed yet polite throughout. I looked them up because the number isn’t listed on their website and came across this site to confirm. So yeah, this is a legit call, nothing to worry about!

This number belongs to Co-Op Bank. When they spot something odd on your account, they give you a ring to double check a few of the latest transactions. They don’t ask tricky security questions, just confirm who you are and whether those transactions look right. If you feel unsure, you can always call the bank back on your regular phone banking line to have them verify everything properly. Honestly, it’s nothing to panic about - they’re just making sure everything on your account is legit to keep fraud at bay.

So, I called what I thought was the normal number for the Co-op Bank fraud team, but not the 0345 6000 529 from the message I got. Turns out, they already knew about the contact I'd received, and a payment that didn't work earlier got approved after that. Bit confusing, really.

I actually got a legit call from Coop Bank, but I ended up hanging up and ringing them back on my own. When I called the number ending in 352, I spoke to the same lady who answered when I used the website’s contact number, so I made sure they had a note that I’d been reached out to.

We got a message on our landline answer machine and had to listen to it a few times before catching the name and number. It was someone saying they were calling from the Barclay card security office. The guy spoke really politely and wanted me to call him back. Honestly, I’m pretty sure it’s a scam since that’s not even my bank.

This number is definitely legitimate! I wouldn’t recommend blocking it, as it belongs to the fraud detection team at Co-op Bank. They look into any suspicious activity that might involve your bank account. It’s worth having a chat with them. If you’re feeling uneasy, just give a ring to the number found on the reverse of your card instead.

I received an email that seemed to be from the Co-op bank, instructing me to ring a number regarding some transactions on my account. The catch? I don’t even have an account with the Co-op! Plus, the number provided doesn’t match any official contact for them. Clearly a scam, so steer clear and don’t pick up!
