It turns out this number belongs to the Aqua credit card fraud department. Somehow my card info got nicked and there were a few suspicious transactions tried on it. The person I spoke to knew exactly what had happened with my past payments, sorted everything out by cancelling my card and sent me a new one. Proper helpful!

They quickly froze my card and said a replacement would arrive within a week. The number checked out as legitimate, so big thanks to Aqua for spotting this early and protecting my money. New Day, the folks behind the Aqua credit card, have a real anti-fraud setup. It stopped loads of dodgy spends on my card - four whole pages of suspicious charges declined, which was a massive relief for me.

I got a text from what seemed like Aqua (part of New Day) asking me to check if some recent charges were mine. They wanted me to reply Y if they were legit, or N if not. I hit N and shortly after, an automated call came through saying I’d be connected to someone shortly. Good thing I stayed on the line because they’d spotted a few hundred pounds of fraudulent activity. After a couple of days, they told me they were happy it wasn’t me and refunded all the money, including any extra fees caused by those transactions.

Received a message from 07723362309 claiming there was some dodgy activity on my AQUA card. Shortly after, I got a call from 03453552435 saying they were from AQUA’s fraud prevention team. I found the whole thing fishy and ended the call straight away. Checked my account and there were no suspicious charges. I’m now sorting this out with Capital One, who handle my Aqua card.

You never really know when an unknown call could be something important, so it’s usually best to answer. This particular number is linked to Aqua’s card fraud department. But is it really them, or just scammers pretending to be from there? Someone shared advice ages ago, like in November 2021, about how to handle calls from your bank. Ignoring that advice might end up costing you. Also, it’s worth noting that neither scammers nor some real businesses actually respect the TPS.

No bank phone number is ever fully reliable. Fraudsters have faked the numbers of every single bank. If someone calls claiming to be your bank, it's really hard to know if it’s legit or a scam. The best thing to do is listen carefully, then hang up immediately. Don’t do anything else. Make sure the line is clear, then ring your bank back using the number on the back of your card. Don’t ignore it or put it off - there might be an issue with your account that needs sorting.

Loads of calls, texts and voicemails claiming to be from Aqua about suspicious activity. The automated voice sounds pretty convincing. I haven’t answered any though. But, it's Sunday and of course Aqua is shut, so there’s no way to check if it’s real. What sort of credit card company shuts at the weekend? Honestly, awful. They also have an automated number for lost or stolen cards (which doesn’t even apply here) but that’s also just automated at weekends. Really poor customer support!

Got another call from the supposedly Aqua Fraud Team today. It was some robotic voice saying “Gordy Wallace, press any button to continue.” First off, I’m not Gordy Wallace, nor is it Joe Bloggs! Don’t ever press anything on calls like this, you’ll probs end up stuck on a premium line. Either scammers are using Aqua’s number or the real Aqua fraud lot are hopeless if they can’t even call the right person. Be careful with calls like these, they’re dodgy for sure.
