Real call from the Co-operative bank's fraud team. They rang me on my mobile and home phone, and even dropped a text. All they wanted was a simple yes or no about a big online transaction.

Legit Co-op & Safe: but it sounded just like those typical scam calls pretending to be from Amazon, Microsoft, and so on. I put up a warning on some sites: "Got this call at 9:07, 29/6/20. Looks like a risky scam number. Claimed to be from the Co-operative Bank with urgent info: 'press any key to continue'. I've reported it to both the Bank and Police." If there really are security checks to do, a genuine fraud officer should call you by your name and speak directly - that’s just decent and the right way to do it. Hope this note helps others not get caught out like we nearly did today.

I got a call from Co-op Bank about a big BACS payment I made. I’d just sent most of my funds to pay for some home repairs, so it was good to know they double-check like this to prevent fraud. When I called back, it only took a couple minutes with the automated system to verify the details and confirm I’d given the go-ahead for the transaction.

Like loads of people mention, it’s prob the co-op double checking a big or new buy or transfer is real. They should of texted from a diff number tho, asking you to reply "yes" if it’s genuine. Makes calling them back quicker. Better safe than sorry, right? Always wise to double check.

yesterday i transferred £4500 to a supplier from my current account, and today i sent another £1500 from my savings because there wasn’t enough cash in my current. i reckon the co-op bank’s fraud system got suspicious about it. they asked me to confirm my birth year and month, then checked if i really made the £1500 payment just five hours earlier. even tho there was like an 11% chance some scammer could guess it right, i was glad the bank was on the ball and checking stuff.
