Got 4 automated calls from Halifax Security - turned out to be legit because my daughter lost her credit card and someone was using it. She also got texts while at work. The automated message even asked for her by full name, but she still didn’t "press any button" since that's usually dodgy in scams. She rang the number on Halifax’s official website and they confirmed they were trying to get hold of her and had blocked the card. So this time, the calls were real.

I've gotten calls from this number (03453510271) a couple of times within just one day. They keep saying they need to do a quick credit card check since supposedly my card’s been used fraudulently. Feels a bit dodgy to me.

I got a voicemail claiming to be from Halifax's fraud team, saying there was suspicious activity on my account. They gave a 3 digit code to use if I called them back. I didn't ring them, instead I dialled the number on the back of my card, and it turned out the number they left was nothing to do with Halifax.

Scam alert! Very risky. You should check out Halifax info on scams by looking up halifax[###] protecting-yourself-from-fraud. The way they start a text - A legit Halifax text will mention part of your name, account number or postcode. The way emails start - Halifax emails always use your title and last name, like Dear Mrs Smith. They’ll also always include part of your main account number, or part of your postcode if you don’t have an account number yet.

On 9th November 2020, I got a ring on my mobile and then a voicemail from someone claiming to be Halifax’s fraud team. They messed up my first name and told me to call back on 03453511497 with the code 007. Seemed fishy to me.

We got a legit call here. They left a voicemail on our landline with a number to ring back and a code, then sent a couple of texts to the mobile tied to the card. We rang the number on the back of the card and found out someone tried to use the card for 1p, which got declined, and there was another attempt on a different website.

For me it was a legit call, I got a message with a number to call back plus a code on my landline, and also a text on the mobile linked to the card. Rang the number on the back of my credit card and they sorted everything out super fast. Someone had tried to use the card online twice but thankfully Halifax blocked the payments. They cancelled my card and sent out a new one straight away.

This number really belongs to the Halifax security department. I didn't just press some button to get through, I rang the number on the back of my credit card, and they told me they had been trying to reach me. They also said I was smart not to answer an unknown number, which makes me wonder why a genuine call, especially from bank security, would ask me to do something that scammers are known to do.

This does look like a legit Lloyds Banking Group number. If it's something urgent, they will ring you direct. Honestly, the best advice is always to ask them to have you ring back on the number printed on your bank card. Just keep in mind scammers have cloned phone numbers from all sorts of banks and building societies. So even if the number on your screen matches your bank’s, don't just assume it’s them. Always get what they want, hang up, make sure the line is free, then phone back yourself as soon as you can. Stay careful out there - it’s tricky these days!

Got two calls today from an automated system asking about our son and some Halifax card activity, even though he doesn’t use one anymore. They kept telling us to press any key. It reminded me of when my mum got similar calls over Talk Talk and ended up paying £120 for just two calls. Such a pain!

The robotic message gave a 3 digit pin to use if you ring them back. I tried to get some details but then they just made up some fake transactions. After a chat with Halifax, I found out it was all a scam. Dont bother calling back if you get an automated voicemail like that.

Got a call this morning from Halifax Fraud Prevention, automated voice kept ringing me 3 or 4 times. I rang back the number after looking it up here and it seems legit. They didn’t ask for any personal info, just confirming some transactions were real.
