I had a rather alarming phone call from this number earlier today. They were quite familiar with my name and insisted that I press 1, warning me that failure to do so would result in a warrant being issued for my arrest due to tax evasion. They even provided a case number, a batch number, and a warrant ID. They instructed me not to say a word, which I found rather unsettling. I switched my phone to speaker mode, and as soon as my husband chimed in, they hung up abruptly! Honestly, it left me quite shaken!

Something similar happened to me recently and now Im worried they might have accessed my phone. Luckily, I don’t use my phone for bank stuff so maybe that’s a relief. I wish I could find out who’s behind this 0345-300-3999 number, but my gut says it’s some kinda scam.

I actually ended up pressing 1 and then they just cut me off, what an idiot I feel! Normally I wouldn't get tricked by this sort of thing but it sounded so convincing. This number just called me, and when I picked up, they started going on about some tax fraud investigation. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud, especially since I’m registered disabled 😂

Best not to answer this one - they’ll tell you to press a number, and if you do, they’ll end up charging you over £10 straight from your phone bill.

Get the t####er app on your phone, it’ll show stuff like “HMRC scam” or “PPI claim” when those annoying calls come through, then just hit the block button and you’re sorted. It’s free and works well at stopping those annoying telemarketers and scammy types ringing you all the time. Honestly saves you from getting proper wound up every few minutes by some total muppet who can’t be bothered to do honest work.

Classic scam alert. HMRC doesn't ever ring you like this. Whatever you do, don’t press 1 - that just confirms your number and they’ll sell it off for more spam calls, often from India. Just scroll down, tap BLOCK, and forget about it, simple as that. Or just don’t answer at all. If it’s important, they’ll leave a voicemail like any normal caller would.

Got a call from 03453003999 and it's definitely a dodgy one. Honestly, if an elderly or vulnerable person picked up, that could've ended badly. I got a call from someone claiming to be from the HMRC fraud team. They put me through to a bloke who had a weird accent. Absolutely, I've just received a call that was evidently a phoney HMRC. They prompted me to hit #1 if I desired further information or wanted to chat with an agent. Whatever you do, don’t press #1 - they’ll transfer you to an overly pushy scammer pressing you to cough up money for reasons unknown. This is a long-standing con that keeps rearing its ugly head with new numbers. Your best bet is to just block the number. If you've already engaged, avoid calling back or pressing that #1!
