TalkTalk called, saying they needed to check a fault and had to get inside to do so.

Got a text supposedly from ‘talk talk’ saying there was a problem with my line and an openreach engineer needed to come out. They asked me to call the number above to set up an appointment, warning I’d be charged £65 if I wasn’t in. The 0345 number immediately made me suspicious. Plus, why would an engineer need to come inside? Usually they sort these things from outside! Just a heads up, be careful!

definitely a scam, but they put some effort into it. first, i got an email supposedly from tt about a problem and said i'd receive a text soon to confirm a service visit. the email even urged me to click a link to schedule the service. both the message and the email are fake. just block the phone number and bin the email straight away. i work in bank fraud and ive got to say, this scam is pretty clever, but it’ll end up costing the scammers more than they get in the end.

Strange thing is we got a text from this number, yet there isn’t any issue with our phone line at all.

just got a call from talk talk saying they'd charge me £65 for missing an engineer visit. sounded dodgy to me, like a trick to get you to ring their expensive number. i did a speed test online since i use talk talk, and it showed my internet was slow, but i never actually booked any service appointment. heads up - this isn't legit talk talk stuff!
