Got a text on my phone just now saying: "Derek, your initial payment for your AMBROSE WILSON account C7843944 is overdue. Please ring 03450742064 to settle your account." Thing is, my name isn’t Derek, I don’t have any AMBROSE WILSON account, and there’s no way I’m calling that number. This is about the fifth time I’ve had one of these dodgy messages. Also, whoever wrote it clearly doesn’t know basic English - there should be a full stop after “overdue” and the next word needs a capital letter. Total rubbish.

I recently received a rather alarming message regarding an account I supposedly have with FASHION WORLD, reference number U9426272. They’re insisting I pay £10.00 to sort out some alleged arrears, otherwise my credit score could take a hit. The problem? I’ve never even registered with them! I can’t help but think this might be a widespread issue affecting others as well. Feels a bit dodgy, to say the least.

The caller claimed to be from FashionWorld, but when I contacted FashionWorld directly, they said it wasn’t them. Plus, I don’t have any account with FashionWorld either.

I’ve been getting messages from 03450742064 saying I owe money to something called fashion world. They keep texting me with "fashion world" in the heading but I never buy clothes online, only from shops I trust. This seems quite dodgy to me.
