Got a robo call asking if I was "given name" and when I said yes, it wanted my birth date. Seems like they're trying to gather personal info. My elderly mum asked me to check this number out. She also rang the bank herself using a different phone. Be careful with these calls!!!

Complete scam, got six calls from them and not once did they leave a message. I switched off my caller ID and called back, and the first thing that seemed odd was the voice wasn’t the usual robotic tone you get from HSBC. Then the caller says straight away, “Good morning, just a reminder, HSBC will never ask you for your PIN.” Every HSBC customer and employee knows that, so why’s this automated call saying it? They say they're from HSBC but it's a complete scam. I’m fully aware of my card balance, and they tell me I’ve gone over the limit with some random amount and demand a payment. Totally rubbish. My bank has never called me about going over my balance. When you get calls like this, just hang up and contact your bank directly. It was HSBC calling me. I rang back using the number on the card cos I suspected it might be dodgy. Turns out it was legit! They just asked some security questions, which I guess is pretty usual. Always best to make sure you're speaking to your actual bank though.

If you ring your bank to verify if the call is legitimate (like the post below suggests), the customer service team usually knows if the bank has been trying to get in touch with you and can either put you through to the right team or sort it out for you. Bear in mind, the call agents might not recognise every single number the bank uses. Even if they say it’s a scam, it doesn’t automatically mean the number itself is dodgy. Fake calls using real company numbers is a big issue for businesses and their clients.

I got a call from someone saying they were from HSBC asking for my date of birth. Not sure I gave them that info, but they already had my number, full name, and knew I bank with HSBC. Right, so I get why people get anxious when they see HSBC and it asks for DOB. I went ahead and entered it since it was only my birthdate, not things like account or PIN. It was just an automated call saying I’d overdrawn and needed to top up my account. I didn’t have time to speak to anyone so I just hung up, then logged in and paid the money in, so all good. A few days later, I got letters telling me the balance I needed to settle. My advice is just log in and have a look, maybe a bill hasn’t been paid or smth.

This number has been blowing up my phone for the past few days and its really getting on my nerves. I’ve ignored all the calls because my phone flagged it as a possible scam.

I've gone ahead and blocked this number, but it keeps leaving voicemails that sound like a robot just repeating my surname. It's rather unnerving, to be honest! I've lost count, but I reckon I've received around ten of these bizarre messages now.

DON'T ANSWER! I tried to ring back a missed call from this number and an automated message said it was HSBC. Then I did get someone who asked for my sort code and account number, plus my name. The call then just dropped. I phoned HSBC using the official number I found online and they said nobody from them had tried to contact me. Definitely a scam.

Got a robocall asking for my birthday and postcode, so I gave them out. Then it said I needed to pay £130 to clear my account and wanted my debit card details. I just hung up and blocked the number. I know my balance and it’s nowhere near £130 overdraft. Still, they keep ringing me!

I received a call from this number, and it turned out to be an automated message. It requested me to verify my name and then proceeded to ask for my date of birth, prompting me to end the call immediately. I reached out to HSBC through their live chat, and they assured me it was indeed a scam.

Got around 4 or 5 calls over the past few days from this number, and my phone kept marking it as spam. Eventually I picked up and it was someone pretending to be from HSBC. I rang HSBC on their real number afterwards and the rep said they hadn’t made any calls, so it was definitely a scam.

Got calls from this number 6 times within 48 hours, all acting like they’re from HSBC and wanting my card info. Definitely a scam.

They rang me three times within an hour. When I finally answered the third call, it was an automated woman’s voice, sounding very much like the one HSBC uses, asking for my date of birth and postcode. After entering that info, it put me through to a real person who asked straight away for my card and account info. When I asked what the call was about, he just hung up on me. Definitely a scam, and it’s NOT HSBC.
