They've been ringing me loads in the past few days. My phone marked it as spam so I just ignored it each time. I rang the number on the back of my HSBC card and the staff there said it was the credit card team, but I'm still a bit unsure about it.

HSBC have said this number is definitely a SCAM. After ignoring loads of calls from 03450131515, I got suspicious and rang the official HSBC number. They told me it really is a scam. They warned not to answer these calls, but if you do, never give out any details. Apparently, these scammers try to scare you into hurry and panic, so always STOP & CHECK. Best to ring the number on your bank card to be safe. Also, if you want to know more about how clever these scams have gotten, listen to 'The Perfect Scam' podcast. Stay safe out there!

They wanted me to put in my personal info and bank details, but I gave them fake stuff. Then they switched me to a bloke asking me to confirm my card info. I said no and told them I'd ring my bank. He told me to call back on the same number that rang me. Rang the bank afterwards and they said they’d never tried to get in touch.

I got a call from 0345 013 0151 and when I answered, it went straight to a womans voice message that sounded just like HSBC’s automated service. It asked for my account number and sort code, just like the real bank would. I rang my bank to make sure and they told me they wouldn’t call me like that since there’s nothing unusual on my account. So I reckon it’s a scam. Watch out everyone! Don’t let these con artists get to you!
HSBC

Don’t ever just ignore phone calls from your bank if you weren’t expecting them. Always ring your bank back on the phone number printed on the back of your card to make sure it’s proper. Banks can call from a load of different numbers, so it’s tricky to tell if it’s really them or some con artist trying to steal your cash. Some scammers even add fake “danger” reviews about legit bank numbers on here to get folks to block the real calls or report the number to ‘7726’ - which then makes your phone company mark all calls from that number as scams for everyone.
3 years
If you ring your bank to verify if a call is genuine (like in the comments below), the people in the call centre can tell if the bank has actually reached out to you and will either put you through to the right team or sort it out for you. But they usually don’t know every single number the bank might use. Just because the call centre says it’s a scam attempt, it doesn’t always mean that the number itself is dodgy. Lots of real business numbers get faked, which causes big troubles for companies and their clients alike.

At the moment, I'm residing in my late mother's house in Kent after her recent passing. I received a rather unsettling phone call on her landline from this number. The caller didn't provide any company name, personal identification, or any details regarding the credit card they were referencing. They simply claimed there had been two dubious transactions and urged me to return their call. The voice on the message was exceptionally articulate and rather persuasive, I must admit. Just a few days prior, I had cancelled my mother's credit card, which made me even more uneasy. I decided not to engage further and hung up, but truth be told, it left me feeling rather anxious. Naturally, it does gnaw at you, wondering if perhaps it was a genuine concern after all.

This number seems legit to me. I cleared my overdue credit card balance and received a text confirmation from HSBC like they usually do. Don’t understand all the bad reviews here. This is a total scam, I actually find it hilarious to just throw out random account numbers and keep them hanging like they do with me. Never give out real details, just make up loads of nonsense instead.

Got a call from this number, it sounded proper legit at first, then I got a text telling me to ring back with a link that looked like it was from HSBC. When I rang, the hold music was the same as HSBC's, but I got connected way too fast and the bloke asked for my card info. Didn’t fall for it, just hung up straight away. Rang HSBC myself and they said they never called me and warned me not to click anything in those messages. Blocked the number. These scammers are getting clever, but still, best just to block and ignore any calls like this.

It’s a total con. They call me like 10 times daily, always trying to get my card info.

I checked with HSBC and this number 0345 013 0151 is definitely not them. Be careful, it's a fake.

They keep ringing me like 3 times a day for more than a week now. I checked with HSBC and they said they haven’t been calling me at all.

Absolute scam, scam, scam! Anyone saying this is genuine is either clouded or involved in the fraud. I've contacted HSBC and their credit card services myself. This number is currently being looked into. Don't pick up the phone. Delete any messages they send and never ever tap on any links. If you're in doubt, call HSBC using the official number you trust. Don't let these thieves take your money!

Got two missed calls from this number earlier. After seeing what others said, I’m definitely not answering next time.

It was HSBC calling, said there was a problem with my account. It was one of those automated messages.

I just got a call from this number. I ended it straight away when some automated voice asked for my date of birth. I rang up HSBC afterwards and they told me it wasn’t from them. If you’re seeing this post and already gave away info like your dob or answers to security questions, you really need to contact HSBC ASAP to let them know what’s happened.

I got a call from a woman saying she was from HSBC. She knew my DOB, where I live, and my email, which freaked me out a bit. She told me it was about an issue I have with my credit card, which is true. She asked me to sign a form to verify the dispute and said she'd send it to my email. I haven’t spoke to HSBC directly about it yet to see if it’s legit.
