So my mate gave them a ring, right? Got this recorded voice asking for some sorta reference number, postcode, and a DOB. He just made up some random stuff - like any old ref number, the postcode for Buckingham Palace, and King Charles' birthday for the DOB. Then he told them his name was Charles Windsor. Weirdly, they bought it and said everything matched up! He just hung up after that, but honestly, I found it proper hilarious.

I've repeatedly replied, asking them to remove my number from their list. I've even let them know I've alerted the fraud division of the Police about their antics. Yet, nothing seems to have changed. This harassment has dragged on for months, and it’s become a right pain. And honestly, if they can’t even spell Charles right, what does that say about their professionalism?

I've been getting texts from these idiots for more than half a year, all asking for some Kirsty Pennock (definitely not me) to get in touch with a REF NO. I block their numbers every time, but they just switch to new ones. I've warned them about legal steps - I could actually do something since I work in a law firm - but they don't stop. Got messages once from someone called Sadie, now it’s some Paul Pickering. I haven’t replied at all cos I’m sure it’s a scam. Bet if I did, they’d try to get my personal details to “verify” me. The names just don’t seem legit. Saying they’re from a debt collection agency doesn’t mean they actually are.

I don’t get why loads of folks complain about these numbers but phone companies or the police/ fraud squad never seem to take action. It’s crazy how these call centres have no shame, tricking hardworking, honest people and then telling you you owe money that’s not even yours. When will someone put an end to this madness?

The Caller ID system doesn’t do anything to block spam or annoying calls. With VOIP, they’re able to fake any phone number, no matter where in the world they are calling from. Until we get something like live IP address info shown, Caller ID is basically useless.
