Got scammed by this number. They said on the phone that they needed my address and birth date to keep talking to me. I only gave them my address, but then started getting letters. Got a text from LCS earlier today, so I rang them to see who they were. They said I owe HMRC for an overpayment from 2016-17. I only gave my name, nothing else. Just spoke to HMRC and they confirmed that the company is genuine - apparently, it’s one of the three firms HMRC uses if they can’t reach you directly.

Got a text from this number earlier, assumed it was the courier I was expecting so ended up giving them my name when they couldn’t find anything with the IDS Number. When I mentioned our number was once listed under X Directory (which seems pointless now), she said she’d take it off her records. Regrettably, LCS is not a fly-by-night operation. It’s a bona fide debt recovery firm. They specialise in reclaiming debts linked to excess tax credits and also collaborate with various energy suppliers, including Scottish Power.

I received a rather dubious call from this number on my home phone today, 27th April, at around 7 in the evening. A woman introduced herself as being from Leeds Consultancy Services. When she attempted to guide me through a series of questions, I made it clear I wasn’t comfortable proceeding without first knowing exactly who they were and what their business entailed. She was rather evasive, repeatedly insisting, “We handle a variety of tasks for various clients.” Quite unsettling, if you ask me! Ultimately, she mentioned they would be sending me some letters. Following the call, I did a bit of digging online and discovered that they appear to be a rather unsavoury debt collection agency. There are numerous complaints swirling around about aggressive tactics used against individuals who actually owe nothing. Quite alarming, really!
