I’ve never actually received a call from this number (0344 411 3258), but it turned up on a letter from LCS (Credit Management Debt Recovery investigations). The letter said I owed money to HMRC, but since I hadn’t gotten anything directly from HMRC before, I was suspicious it might be a scam. So I rang HMRC and turns out I did owe them money, and they confirmed LCS had been hired to handle the debt recovery. They gave me the choice to either pay HMRC the full amount straight away, which I did, or talk to the company about setting up payments.

0344 113258 rang my workplace asking for someone by name. When I mentioned they no longer worked here, they said I’d need to answer security questions because of Data Protection rules. Seemed quite strange since I didn’t expect the call. When I asked who was calling, they wouldn’t give details either, citing GDPR. Bit annoying if you ask me.

I’ve had a few dealings with LCS and honestly they’re not too bad compared to other debt collection folks. They handle stuff for HMRC, so if you’ve ever claimed tax credits, it’s better to answer their calls rather than block them straightaway. Even if the account isn’t directly in your name, it’s worth chatting with them. These HMRC collectors have the power to come to your house if things get serious, so avoiding them could just make things worse.

Got a call at 8 in the morning on Saturday, but BT Call Guardian caught it first. They said they were from LCS, but hung up before I could answer. After reading what’s been said here, I’m gonna block the number. Got a voicemail from someone called Ics talkin about a personal issue. If it really is personal, why dont they just send a letter? I got a call earlier on. The person on the other end asked if I was a certain name, but I didn't say yes or no. Then they asked if I had got three letters sent to a postcode I had never heard of - honestly, I had no clue about it.

They said they’d send the letters to my place anyway. I told them good luck because I don’t actually have an address, and then they just hung up. Lovely.

No agreement, no name confirmation, so I guess there’s nothing to worry about.

Back in November 2018, I got this weird automated voice from a woman saying something about lcs and claimed it wasn't a sales call. I didn't bother calling back since I’m pretty sure we don’t owe anything. Plus, we hardly receive messages on our unlisted landline, especially not from mobiles. Felt a bit strange, but it reminds me of what others have said about similar calls.
