Be careful, it's definitely a scam. I tried doing a "password reset" on the Next site, but the funny thing is, I've never even made an account with them before.

Got a message saying a new address was added to my Next delivery account. It asked me to ring 03337778901 if it wasn’t me. Problem is, I don’t even have a Next account! I looked up that phone number and ended up on this site. The sender’s number wasn't shown, just "Next", which made it look legit. I also stumbled upon a piece about #### butchering" and how they're making people in Asia their victims to run scams like these “wrong number” texts. Seriously, don’t reply to anything suspicious. Always double-check the numbers. Stay safe out there.

Because I’ve never even set up a NEXT account, plus the message went to my work phone which I never use for personal things. PLEASE don’t ring back that number. I got a message saying some number had changed on a Next account I don’t even have 😂 it told me to ring these dodgy scammers on 0333 777 8901. No legit company, least of all Next, would ask you to call a random number like that. If you ever get a text or email telling you to call a number, just find an old letter or look up the official number on the company’s real site instead. Don’t trust texts, emails, or anyone who calls out of the blue - just tell them you’ll ring back. I’m actually thinking of giving these lot a bell just for laughs 😂

I recently made a purchase from a popular shop and later got a message claiming to need confirmation it was actually me. It dawned on me this morning that it was all a con. The scam started with a text that looked like it came from the retailer I ordered from, asking me to reply yes if I’d made the order. But my replies kept failing to go through, so I decided to call the number provided. When I rang, they said they'd give me a call back, so I agreed to wait. When they phoned me back, a woman asked a few questions before saying she'd connect me to someone else who could help. This bloke then started grilling me about an old phone number and my mother's maiden name, and even wanted me to hand over my bank card to charge a tiny amount to verify I was the genuine account holder. Thankfully, I didn’t give them any of my info or card details.

I got a text from Next saying they’d added a delivery address to my account. It said if I didn’t do it, call this number. The message had a link to call the number, so I tapped it. But right away, when they picked up, something felt off, the person on the line spoke with a strange accent and I couldn’t hear them properly. Felt like a scam to me.

Got a call from someone pretending to be Next saying they updated my account info. Problem is, I don’t even have an account with them! Quite a surprise to hear that.

I just got a message saying my Next order had a new delivery address. I called the number they provided and it wasn’t even a Next contact. Total scam, don’t even think about calling that number!

Got a text at like 1.05 in the morning. I work at Next too but didn’t know the number so I’m not gonna call it back.

No need to worry, it’s legit. I got the exact same text. I phoned the usual customer service line 0333 777 8000 (not the number from the message) and after speaking to the first person, they connected me to their online security team. Since shops are reopening, they’re restarting in-store deliveries for employees, so that’s why you get a message about a new address being added. The security team took a bit to pick up cause they were swamped with calls about this earlier today. Honestly, Next should’ve informed all their staff properly to avoid a load of needless stress.

Got the same call, they said they would switch accounts if I didn’t ring back on that number - total scam.

got a message from ‘next’ at 2 in the morning (which is who I’m employed with, so freaked me out), saying i’d “added” a new delivery address to my profile, and if i hadn’t done this i should ring 0333 777 8901. If i wasn’t actually working for them, I probably would have believed it was real.

Got a letter supposedly from 'Next Online' saying I've opened a new account and there are charges on it. They want me to ring this number to sort it out. Feels fishy to me.

Got a text really early this morning saying to confirm if I changed the address on my Next account. It said if I didn’t make any changes to ring them on 03337778901. Why would Next be texting me at 3am though? Number was 72299. It seems a bit dodgy so I haven’t called back.

This was definitely a scam.

About 03 Numbers

A lot of organizations use 03 numbers instead of the more expensive 08 numbers. For example, a number of public sector entities have moved from 0845 numbers to 0345. The cost of calls is no more than calls to geographic numbers (01 or 02). Call charges depend on the time of the day, and most providers offer call packages that permit calls free of charge during certain times of the day. Mobile call costs differ depending on the selected calling plan. Usually, these calls are included in free call packages.
