I received a message that seemed to be from my bank (Santander), claiming a large sum was being withdrawn from my account. It included a number to ring: 03333443057. When I dialled, someone picked up saying it was ‘HSBC’! I told them I thought I was speaking to Santander, and they replied, ‘I work for both banks’ (sure, mate). I asked for their name and department, saying I’d get in touch with my bank to be connected to them. That’s when they just ended the call straight away.
