Got a call from some recorded message pretending to be HMRC. I ended up giving them everything - my address, phone number, car details, even my girlfriend and life story! They rang again demanding even more info. If you’re gullible enough to fall for that, go ahead and pick up the phone yourself and give it all away. Otherwise, just put the number on block!

i just got a recorded message warning me this was the final notice and that i’d face legal action from hmrc. haven’t had the chance to check if it’s legit but it definitely felt dodgy and like a scam.

We got a voicemail from hmrc saying they were after some money, so we rang them back but told them a fake name. They insisted we had an outstanding balance.

Got a couple of voicemail messages saying I needed to get in touch with HMRC right away, mentioned something about criminal charges. My husband rang them back from the house phone, they asked for our bank info but he told them he wouldn’t share that over the phone and they just hung up. Definitely a scam!

They keep ringing me every single day, saying I'm facing criminal charges, which really freaked me out at first. But after I took a moment and looked their number up online, it turned out to be a complete con. If you call back, they just try to steal your bank info. Honestly, if HMRC were actually after you, you'd have loads of official letters by now. It's a proper nasty scam preying on people who are vulnerable.

got a voicemail saying it was from customs and revenue telling me there was a legal case against me. i know it’s a scam cause hmrc never get in touch like that, they always send a letter first. reported it to hmrc for phishing. proper dodgy call so i’ve blocked the number straight away.

had another call today which i didnt pick up, after not answering the first one. i already reported the initial call as hmrc phishing - they don’t ring you up, always send letters instead. best thing is not to pick up and report it straight to hmrc (easy to find their reporting email online). ive blacklisted the number on my phone and reckon others should do the same.
